As for needing smaller ships, I feel safer in the open air of Oasis's Central Park or Aqua Theater than I would in the main theater of Empress.

You need to remember that the Empress of the Seas which is sailing now in no way resembles the Empress (then called Nordic Empress) as it was designed .

Over the years, the plentiful public spaces were reduced to cram in more passenger cabins and specialty restaurants.

If course, certain public areas such as the pool deck, theater and main dining room could not be expanded to accommodate all the additional passengers.

This has resulted in the lovely jewel of a ship that had the nickname of "The Royal Caribbean Yacht" being turned into another Sardine Can of the Seas.

In all this chatter about taking temps before embarkation, showing health notes or proof that you are immune.... What about HIPPA/privacy laws?  It's only a matter of time before someone sues the cruise lines saying that their private medical records shouldn't be a factor when it comes to their  vacation.

As with discrimination laws, HIPPA/privacy laws don't forbid people from looking at medical records. The just - to grossly oversimplify - forbid people from using records without a darn good reason.

What would be the point of temperature monitoring? As I understand it most carriers are asymptomatic when most infectious.

Theatre. Just like the things we do now for “security theatre.” At least give the appearance of doing something.
