Headed home in the morning. Hopefully catch up Friday Totally unrelated to the thread but thought if I quoted you it may grab your attention since there's no PM function You may already be aware of this but just a heads up that Andrew Lloyd Webber has been broadcasting one of his shows every weekend for the last few weeks on YouTube. Show starts at 7pm UK time on a Friday and is available for 24 hours. Coming up tomorrow is Cats - just in case you're missing your fix Edited May 14, 2020 by Bobal

Looks very interesting. Viking is the luxury end of river cruising and can be pricey. We used an Australian company , APT Touring, but booked through their UK office, we should have been with them again this past April but the pandemic cancelled that. It worked out in our favour as instead of being on a sister ship to the one we were on last year we are now going to be on their brand new Travelmarvel Polaris in September 2021 , looks amazing with more luxury. There is a fab promo video on YouTube of it. American friends have used Gate 1 travel . Apologies for hijacking John. They thoroughly enjoyed them , visited several countries and recommended the company to a joint Canadian friend who did Eastern Europe with them last year visiting Romania , a country we have visited many moons ago for a Christmas skiing holiday in 1991 !!! . He was due to travel again with them in March and April to three separate countries including Peru but we all know what happened then 😔 . Travel is all about research, research , research and more research , plenty of info out there on the web , reviews, photos etc. Enjoy exploring. 😎. Rare John&LaLa Posted May 16, 2020 Author #281 Share Posted May 16, 2020 (edited) Back on the ship We had ABBA trivia before dinner and then caught the first performance of the night I wanted to make it back to the cabin to experience going thru the locks Here are a few shots of us leaving Amsterdam. I wasn't paying attention during trivia The terminal This building has an observation platform and a swing that goes over the side The Botel The crane is actually a hotel with 2-3 suites and a bungee cord attraction ABBAMAX - The UK's finest Abba Tribute Band They were fun, we must have skipped dinner to get front row seats Having a Genie aleviated that challenge for Mama Mia on the Allure TA😉 Laura got up and danced. I may have video, but this is all I'm sharing Edited May 16, 2020 by John&LaLa
Rare John&LaLa Posted May 16, 2020 Author #282 Share Posted May 16, 2020 Out to sea Went back to Laura's cabin to enjoy the locks, but there were some issues and we were delayed going thru Here are a couple pictures right before the locks I waited around a bit, but Sleeping Beauty was wore out and I said good night and headed back to our cabin. And sure enough, right after that we entered the locks. They are in the process of building new locks, so I got to watch a little of that No mules like in the PC, you just drive in and out It's very slow and boring Probably would have been more interesting from the aft cabin Here is the exit I guess an old fort at the entrance to the canal

Rare John&LaLa Posted May 18, 2020 Author #284 Share Posted May 18, 2020 Our last day on the ship, not much going on. Weather was very nice Saw a Holland ship while walking above the pool deck This was the final round of Progressive Trivia. I think we were in 3rd place and finished there as well. Unfortunately, It got very confusing at the end and they only gave a prize of the winners No mention of 2nd or 3rd place. Kind of a letdown considering how long we played We got our transit certificate, pretty well done I think the previous year's one had to be altered after the ports all changed due to weather Our afternoon snack was very good And since we were not staying for the Baltic leg, I needed to give away the 'Champagne' I had collected this trip A quick post on our roll call found a lucky recipient Well tomorrow is Copenhagen, we are staying one night, then flying back to Orlando Our plan is to do the HOHO, Tivoli, and the canal tour

Rare John&LaLa Posted May 20, 2020 Author #286 Share Posted May 20, 2020 (edited) May 12, 2019 Day 17 - Copenhagen, Denmark Arrival was uneventful, Mario escorted us off after our last breakfast in Giovanni's Took a cab to the airport hotel and was able to check in almost immediately I don't recall the price, but I think it was around $60 for the three of us. We stayed at the Clarion Hotel Copenhagen Airport It was a little chilly that morning It's an atrium style building, very modern compared to our last hotel in Copenhagen, The Bethel in Nyhaven Laura and I finally shared a room. I thing Pat was glad to get rid of me. There was a free transfer bus into the city where we would catch the HOHO It was free because we kept stopping and picking up more people.😉 Some sites near the airport It took over an hour to get into town, not sure I'd do that again Luckily it was just Pat and I. Pretty sure Laura would have been annoyed waiting at each stop. BTW, since our hotel was actually in the airport train station, we could have taken the train, but I'm just not that adventurous. Rare John&LaLa Posted May 20, 2020 Author #287 Share Posted May 20, 2020 Copenhagen by HOHO We went with the Mermaid Tour, took about 90 minutes not including our stops at the Little Mermaid and Tivoli It covers most of the core city and costs around $30 Copenhagen's Princess🧜♀️ She seems sad on her little rock...... Totally overwhelmed by tourists The Royal Yacht is nice We stayed about 30 minutes, but I didn't want to fight the crowds, so we wandered around the marina Serenade on the left Pat even took some pictures
Rare John&LaLa Posted May 20, 2020 Author #288 Share Posted May 20, 2020 (edited) Back on the Bus Here are a few tips on the HOHO system Make sure you always get on your bus, there are at least two companies that use red buses Try and work your way to the front seats on the upper deck for the best views. It may take a few stops to snag the prime seats, and you have to be quick, but it's worth it Train Station near Tivoli Nyhaven stop You can get Carlsburg for $1 here Danish flag This is where the Hotel/Airport bus dropped us in the morning There are some modern buildings in town And yes, that's a glass bottom pool Some places were tight Edited May 20, 2020 by John&LaLa 1
Rare John&LaLa Posted May 20, 2020 Author #289 Share Posted May 20, 2020 (edited) Tivoli for lunch General admission is around $15, but you then pay for each ride based on how many tickets it requires Kind of like a carnival in the US We went to have lunch, enjoy the weather and ride a few rides Oh, and have some beers Woodhouse was upstairs I think we got the combo's Burger was very good Polar bears were weird Double Decker Carousel Edited May 20, 2020 by John&LaLa

Rare Sea Dog Posted May 20, 2020 #298 Share Posted May 20, 2020 Great pics John. Hope you are getting settled in and liking the new house. hard to believe this review is coming to an end. I will forward to when you do cruise again and review. Unfortunately my planned review will have to wait till November 21' unless we squeeze something in before. Cheers and thanks for some great pics of a great trip.

heatherb1958 Posted May 20, 2020 #300 Share Posted May 20, 2020 (edited) Great photos of Copenhagen , we first went in May 2007 on Navigator from Southampton, lovely itinerary including Amsterdam. Since then we have cruised into and out of there, very easy to use the train to and from the airport. There is an ‘ alternative ‘ little mermaid nearer to the port , or at least there was . Not quite as pretty but still worth a photo . It is actually called the Genetically modified Little Mermaid , 😆 Pics from 2007.
