JPH814 Posted May 9, 2020 Author #52 Share Posted May 9, 2020 Thank you to all who are contributing to this list. And we now have our first successful participant, who has received a refund for some excursions. (It gave me a chance to test out the formulas on my spreadsheet!) Please remember to post here when you do receive your refunds. and new posters are also welcome. jkwestlake Posted May 9, 2020 #54 Share Posted May 9, 2020 Cruise Date: 3/21/2020 Cruise cancelled by Seabourn: 3/13/2020 Excursions refunded: 3/16/2020 Cruise Refund requested: 3/27/2020 - nothing received as of today Sorry for the delay in responding, working on dismantling and tracking refunds for our Italy trip that was supposed to happen 5/27. Finally got 2 hotel refunds from Expedia yesterday (took approx. 45 days). Also just mourning the loss of these much anticipated vacations to celebrate my husband's and my 50th birthdays. Best to all!!
wyattsaunt Posted May 9, 2020 #55 Share Posted May 9, 2020 FWIW, when I spoke to a Seabourn customer service agent on 5/7, I asked why I had gotten numerous emails cancelling my dinner reservations and excursions, (all $0), but no confirmation of my refund request. The agent told me the excursions and onboard reservations are handled by a different group within the company than the one that processes the cruise portion. She kept repeating that all refunds would take 60 BUSINESS days, not calendar days. June 6 Greek Odyssey: cancelled 4/14 by Seabourn/refund requested 4/15 BTW, I cancelled 1 excursion for $480 In March and it was back on my cc in 2 days. norm2002 Posted May 9, 2020 #56 Share Posted May 9, 2020 I don't know whether you want to add me to the list. I haven't cancelled the cruise yet but have cancelled the excursions. The cruise date is October 14. I cancelled the excursions by phone with the Seabourn Club on April 7 and was told 60 days for refund, which should expire on June 6. I did receive email confirmation immediately which also said 60 days.

If you assume 60 business days in a week, that means 60 business days would take 12 weeks or 84 calendar days.
wyattsaunt Posted May 9, 2020 #58 Share Posted May 9, 2020 Yes, I had to ASK the agent if it was 60 BUSINESS days or 60 CALENDAR days. As you point out JPH814, there is a HUGE difference.

Unfortunately business days is not necessarily 12 weeks as any holidays during that period adds to the days and depends on whose holidays don't count so probably close to 90 business days by the current status which is sure to change since now 4 months more of cancellations to process and seems there is no rhyme or reason to the order of processing.. Actually the big problem in my mind is that the time for being payed or FCC'd keeps changing We have had promises starting with approx 2 weeks up to the last given our TA which was a specific date that just happens to be 60 calendar days from cancellation. Got so annoyed with the ever changing promises that we put the charges under disputes with our credit cards. Know that creates extra work at Seabourn and delays for everyone but, what do they expect with the continual lies and moving the goal line. And Norm, consider yourself lucky that you got a confirmation regarding your excursions. We are close to 50 days and have received absolutely NOTHING from seabourn. And, now that they have removed the Cruise with Confidence from the website, no telling what the new rules for using the FCC's especially since they from the last version have to be booked by the end of this year and with all the cancellations have to be for 2021 cruises only?? labates629 Posted May 9, 2020 #65 Share Posted May 9, 2020 JPH814 you can add us to your list. Cruise date 8/14th to 28th, 2020 cancelled by Seabourn May 6th. Everything was paid in full including $3000 of excursions. Refund was requested using the online form May 7th (I also advised our travel agent who confirmed Seabourn received request). I am presuming the request pertained to flights and excursions too but perhaps I need to cancel those separately.
zimflyer Posted May 9, 2020 #66 Share Posted May 9, 2020 (edited) First of all, thank you - a good idea. Here's our unhappy little tale... B2B Sojourn dep March 22 Singapore Due to arrive Sydney April 29... SB altered this itinerary completely. 100% different start/end and ports... on the 23 February To: 22 March 35 days Perth to Auckland We purchased new airfares TO Perth And FROM Auckland, plus hotels. (We lost original Non-refundable Bus. AIR to Singapore, domestic air and hotel cancellation fees as could not give a free rebook date). So 1. Reimbursement for travel costs... On 23 February we requested reimbursement costs of above. NO REPLY until APR 30 advising via t/a its under way for reimbursement of travel costs.... still nothing received. 2. Voyage On 15 March Seabourn cancelled the voyages.... (we did not cancel) Seabourn did not email us at all...! On 17 March we requested full voyage refund, choosing full refund on form sent to us. Nothing heard of, nor received as of 9th May... On 19 March an email refunding $0 for onboard dining reservation...! That has been the only accounting for us, NIL ! ÷÷ Nothing heard since from SB !!! ÷÷ At about 60 days since cancellation. Zero refund on both counts... Zero confidence to rebook if this is how its handled .🤔🤔😤😤🤪🤪 Edited May 9, 2020 by zimflyer Missed text

NO REPLY until APR 30 advising via t/a its under way for reimbursement of travel costs.... still nothing received This is just FWIW, not for the table As I had mentioned we received a refund for excursions very promptly as it was early in the game. At the same time I had requested reimbursement for the air changes (over $2K) and yesterday I finally got an answer (after 70+ days)- an offer of FCC in the amount requested. I told them thank you but no thank you - I'll take cash or CC refund. Taxes are still pending after 75 days - I hope they won't offer me FCC again 😦

I don't know if I was just lucky to get the email confirmation but the difference might be that I called the Seabourn Club number - not the general number. You're right about the Book with Confidence. I keep checking the page and it has now been broken ever since the hiatus extension. At least they could extend the two periods to the end of 2021 and 2022 respectively.

wesport Posted May 10, 2020 #73 Share Posted May 10, 2020 I cancelled a Seabourn cruise last year when times were normal, and it took exactly 6 weeks to get my refund. I thought that was a long time as things were normal. I am hopeful and optimistic at this point. I also sent a nice email to my TA as I know she is going through a bad time. She reached out to Seabourn and they said it could take up to 60 days. No mention of business days. I am hoping since this seems to have started in Seattle, they might get back to the office in the near future. With the proper protocols for sure. JPH814 Posted May 10, 2020 Author #74 Share Posted May 10, 2020 Thank you to all who have posted. The more data we have, the clearer the picture will be once we start seeing some payments being made. Also, I have in the back of my mind: maybe at some point we forward this list directly to Seabourn. I do not think it would do anything per se. But from a PR point of view, it might pique their interest to see that this information is being shared and tracked publicly. Then again, I am not sure that Seabourn does not occasionally look at Cruise Critic. ("Hello - anybody listening?")
