Am I crazy to book a 4 day cruise in October?

I can understand that perspective, but isn't that the case with any booking that requires payment upfront (airfare, and some hotels and car rentals)? I'm currently fighting with Air Canada to refund a flight they canceled (service to my city is suspended entirely, so there was no offer of rebooking).

I think my post speaks for itself.  I choose not to send a check for $100.00 to a company that is drowning.  Bookings are up 600% so what do I know.  See I rewrote it.

I just cancelled my 9/12 Panorama cruise which was almost completely full around 3/15. The ship is maybe 75% full now and going the wrong way.  Carnivals line of bookings going through the roof is a crock of s**t.

Actual facts would disagree with your thoughts, but so not let them get in the way.

Meaning it is a fantasy, the company is not drowning.

So you are telling me that a  company that makes all of it's money from cruise ships sailing through the water with paying passengers on board and has billions of dollars in debt paying for the ships is not in any trouble of bankruptcy.  I don't think I am the one in fantasy land.

Check out what the experts say.

If that were true, would that please you?  Would you take pleasure in seeing 100’s of thousands of people out of work, all of this to feed your fantasy about a virus? I will take the upside.

Please stop putting words in my mouth and thoughts in my head.  I love cruising.  Some of my greatest memories have been made on board cruise ships. Of course I do not want 100's of thousands of people out of work.  Being realistic is the way I choose to live my life.  I hope very much that cruising is able to return to normal in August.  If you would just be honest for half a second you would see that putting that many people on a ship eating and drinking together is probably going to end poorly like it did in March.  I f what happened in March happens again I believe it will be the end of the industry.  I am sorry if my realistic view of the world bothers you so much.  I will take the realistic side.

Your view, not realistic from my side.  What happened in March has zero to do with what happens moving forward, totally different circumstances.

So in your view if someone with the virus makes there way onto a ship no outbreak will happen.  It only takes one.  What is your side and my side?  If they can figure out how to let 0 passengers on board with the virus then you are right.  Thank goodness we have free will and you can get on the first ship out and I can wait and both sides will be right.

When you become an epidemiologist let me know.  Was I trying to get you to cruise?  Are you ok with everyone else cruising when they can?

Sorry, I missed the epidemiologists suggesting it is a great idea to cruise right now.  I am perfectly fine with people cruising as long as they sign a waiver saying they will not seek treatment in the hospitals when they come down with the virus.  I feel the same way about helmet laws on motorcycles.  I am perfectly fine with you riding without a helmet as long as you will sign a waiver saying the hospital doesn't have to treat you when you are run over by a Mack truck.

With that pessimistic logic, that can happen a month, a year or five years from now. I have no idea what the free will comment means.  Look I get it, you are terrified about the virus, so much so that it rules over you.  Thats fine, stay at home, it's your choice.  The rest of the world can move on with life,  not waiting for that guarantee when no one can get sick.

Thankfully you do not get that right.

Not pessimistic.  Just realistic.  I am moving on with my life in the way I feel is safe for me and my family.  Not looking for any guarantee.  Just don't want to get on an enclosed space with a bunch of people who may or may not have the virus.  I am sorry you find the way I choose to live my life with my own free will so offensive.

If you can offensive in: Thats fine stay at home its your choice, then I agree.  It really is ok, just do not push your “I want to see a waiver for anyone else to sail” comments on the rest of the world.  As they say in that Disney movie “let it go”.

Let me add our September sailing to the mix.  I think I've got everyone beat, age-wise.  I am 81 and DH is 78, and we booked a casino rate on the Paradise out of Tampa for my birthday in late September.  Only 5 nights and I prefer much longer cruises, but the price was right and it's a good starting place for a return to our favorite passtime.  We will wear masks and enjoy just being onboard a nice ship and looking at the water.  Stops are Grand Cayman and Cozumel.  If they are open, it's a winner; and if not, then we'll just enjoy the ship.  Call us crazy or not, if the ship sails, we're on it!!

You are not crazy my friend. I am just like you super desperate to go on a cruise as soon as possible. Cant wait to take my family on board the cruiser next summer but if I had a chance and the situation was a bit different I would also go on some short cruise for sure. Unfortunately, we have to be careful these days. Anyway, hope you have a nice cruise and it all goes well

I can't even understand what you are typing half the time.  I get you think the virus is no big deal.  Please don't push that crap on everyone, because it is a big deal.

We booked a 4 day out of Jacksonville for October a little over a month ago. We were planning on booking and some friends going for their first cruise. Once rates dropped, we booked putting three in a cabin for $265, free DOU for two of us, $500 OBC for the offer plus $300 added from our cruise that got canceled in May.  The OBC equals what we paid, so are cruising for FREE! I am hoping and praying that they are sailing by then!
