So, we are going back to status quo, as Celebrity were until the end of April.

I cancelled our cruise because of this requirement.

Do you have more info about this?

Was it a cruise line decision, CLIA mandated/suggested!

 

If Celeb adopts an age cut off again,  depending on the  language we may have an issue with cruising and  be unable to use up our large FCC.  We would  take cash instead but would not want an argument about the situation

 

How old is Richard Fain? I read somewhere he is 72.  Wonder if he could pass the  med  req?

On what are you basing this comment? The Enhanced Screening Protocols announced this week by NCL's CEO and listed on the NCL website (https://www.ncl.com/ca/en/why-cruise-norwegian/book-with-confidence#safety) make no mention of such a requirement, nor does the related Health & Safety FAQ.

 

ENHANCED SCREENING PROTOCOLS

All guests will undergo an enhanced pre-embarkation health screening, and those considered at risk will undergo additional screening. Additionally, all crew will undergo extensive screening prior to embarkation and constant monitoring throughout the voyage. Touchless temperature checks and continuous monitoring of guests and crew throughout the voyage will help identify potential health issues, offering an additional layer of prevention and protection.

  • Prior to embarkation
  • Upon returning to the ship from a port of call

The Victory ship goes out three miles and basically cruises back and forth while patrons gamble. Very strange to be so close to many of the cruise ships that are anchored out there. You could clearly see the staff waving from the balconies. Must have been at least 10 ships anchored out there.

 

We are paid up on a September 14 2020 eleven night on Equinox and are booking a holiday cruise to cover Christmas and New Years. We will just have to wait and see how it goes...

 

Hope to see you on the Equinox - sail date September 14th !!  😀  Lots of people canceling - we may be the only folks on the ship ! 

 

We are still optimistic that we will be able to go - just going to wait and see - like you

 

Either we go - or we get a credit to use on another cruise !

My god, there would be temp check lines all over the ship all the time.  And if they don't have an almost immediate covid test available, what would they do with all the guests who have a temp from a normal cold or flu......……...…?

It was boring enough up to that point...except for the nice landscaping in the background ,   As my grandson says:  blah blah blah !

 

To us, it did  not instill much  hope or confidence  about delivering  an upscale product in the future. 

 

I'm with you.  It came across to me as a somewhat bizarre  attempt to discredit the notion of "new normal" precisely because there is going to be a new normal for cruising driven, not by a desire to improve the experience, but by government regulations and restrictions necessitated by the pandemic.   I guess we shouldn't decry the "new normal" of air travel brought on by 9/11 because there really isn't any such thing as "new normal"

There was a brief period around March where several cruise lines announced this based on CLIA advice.  As far as I know, every cruise line has since rescinded this policy.
