HAL Amsterdam 2020 World Cruise

Recommended Posts

We were on the Holland America Amsterdam 2020 128 day World Cruise that left Ft Lauderdale January 4th. The cruise was terminated after 2 months on March 22nd  in Perth Australia by Holland and all passengers  were forced to leave the ship and pay for our own flights home. We had purchased Holland’s Platinum Insurance that was to cover us for the entire 128 day trip. We have not received any of that insurance money back and when I inquired they said it was being decided on a case by case basis. We have received some of the cruise fare returned but every refund has been less than the amount due us. We have not been reimbursed for our air travel home as promised.         After 3 months all of our luggage is still on the ship and they still have no news when or if we may ever see it again.

Help! Do we have any recourse to get  our insurance money back that we paid for two months of a trip that never happened.

Has anyone else that was on this trip had any refunds and if so were they what you expected?

If you will scan the last few pages of thread headings, you will find innumerable posts on this subject, for example, every thread with "Refunds" in the title.  But best to check the latest first, because recently there have been more an more accounts of refunds now being received.

Happy hunting.

That ought to be good news for you.  There are storage areas on that Deck that are cooled because they usually contain supplies that require cold storage, i.e vegetables, fruits, etc.

Best wishes for a successful return of your luggage!

We got the full refund we were promised for the ‘missing’ half of the cruise on May 27. We got our port fees, taxes, and OBC refunded in late April. We never put in for travel expenses because HAL arranged our flight home  without charging us for it. HAL doesn’t owe us a dime.
As a side note, we also received a refund from British Airways for a cancelled flight in Africa, but are still waiting for refunds from two Safari operators and three other airlines.

BTW - we were not notified about ANY of our refunds - they just appeared on our credit card statements without notice.

we received our 50 % cash refund plus the 50 % fcc. they refuse to refund the cost of the 2 airline tickets we had to buy to get out of perth and offered 1250 pp instead. we are florida residents and did did not need any airline tickets to get home. ...so we would lose a lot of money.

they also refuse to compensate us for the prebooked and non refundable trip shich we had booked privately with the sweet remark "you should have booked these trips with us..." no luck with the insurance company either......

too bad !!

if anyone is interested in my fcc, let me know. i am done with holland america.
