Haven Aft or 2 Br on the Breakaway

Currently DH and I are booked in an HA for 5/21 on the Breakaway.   For just a bit more I can snag a 2 Br Suite in the Haven proper.   The cabin we are in now is on deck 14 (which is right under the Garden Cafe). There are plenty of 2 bars on decks15 and 16

The trade-off is clear. One has an amazing balcony. One is right where all the best of the Haven has to offer.

I welcome your thoughts, especially if you have sailed either of these cabins.

Hi,  we have been in both cabins on the Star.  The aft cabin had a wrap around balcony, so 2 views.  Also stay in aft suite on the Spirit. Absolute favorite.

I preferred the 2 bedroom.  I thought the bathroom with Whirlpool tub over looking the water was fabulous.  In it twice a day LOL  We used the second bedroom for luggage.  One adult  or kids could bunk in that room. It is small.  Have not yet cruised in the Haven but would  take that in a heartbeat, especially since the cost is similar.   Let’s us know what you decide.

The distance to the haven for the AFT does take away from some of the "ship within a ship" experience since you miss out on the bar being right outside your door, the snacks and sundeck being a walk away, and the haven is where you meet for priority escorts so it does make it a lot easier if you forget a hat/sunglasses before getting off the ship.

For those reason I will always stay in the 2 bedroom unless we have a large group without haven access.  The balcony is large and we didn't get any less service from the butler and being able to allow guests to come directly to your room without having to meet them is great.

I really depends on what you like. Would you spend a lot of time on your deck?

Have stayed in both types of rooms on the Breakaway and loved both but with the drink package I love the 2 bedroom closest to the Haven bar. Last time it was 10 steps from my door to the bar!

I did like the huge balcony when we were aft but was too tired to walk up to the Haven area often so now I will only stay in the Haven area.

My vote would also be for the 2 bedroom suite.  It was so nice to just walk out the door and have all that the Haven offers right there!  We didn't spend much time on our deck so I can't comment on that aspect.  But there is a large sun deck just above the Haven which would probably meet all your 'big balcony' expectations.  And the 2nd bathroom is a huge perk for me!  Whichever you choose...safe & happy sailing...

Normally yes.  But I'm thinking May might be hotter than if it were an earlier in the year cruise!  The closed roof in the Haven seems mighty nice on this 90 degree day!  LOL

Doesn't the roof in the BA Open? I know the Escape does and it really makes for a nice breeze thru out. My wife and I had an H5 on the Escape. We really liked being so close to the courtyard, sundeck, bar and restaurant

Our only Haven experience was the Escape too.  But from what I've been reading is that the BA either doesn't get open as much or had a problem and doesn't get open at all.  If it's open, great.  If it's not, we'll get a little sun on the sun deck and then enjoy the cooler air in the enclosed area!  Either way it's a win in our book! 🙂

Another vote for the 2 bedroom.  My sisters and I have had a forward facing Haven (which had an AMAZING shower!!!) and the last 2 cruises we had aft Havens.  The balcony is great and we used it a lot on the first aft cruise but not so much on the last one and now we are booked in a 2 bedroom for February - fingers crossed.

We have stayed in both and to us it depends on the itinerary.  We love the aft but our next cruise has 3 sea days in a row so we decided that being inside the Haven would be nice instead of walking to the haven.

Our itinerary (which I am loving BTW!)

Fri Miami, Florida --- 4:00 PM 0
Sat At Sea  --- --- 0
Sun At Sea  --- --- 0
Mon Oranjestad, Aruba 8:00 AM 8:00 PM 0
Tue Willemstad, Curaçao 8:00 AM 8:00 PM 0
Wed Kralendijk, Bonaire 7:00 AM 4:00 PM 0
Thu At Sea  --- --- 0
Fri Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic 7:00 AM 5:00 PM 0
Sat At Sea  --- --- 0
Sun Miami, Florida (Flight Departure)

Given the 4 sea days, the Haven proper is looking more and more appealing!  We are going for the 2 br!

I would too.....can't beat relaxing in the Haven with all of those sea days.  The regular pool deck will be loud and packed and the Haven will be your oasis!
