While in London we were looking for a Napoleon for Anne Marie.  Couldn't find one but I am sure they are there somewhere. Most bakeries seemed to have croissants and danish.  On the last day we found a compromise; an eclair.  It did remind me of the days I was a young lad and at the bakery the items were placed in a box from cookies, to pastries to cakes and they tied it with a ribbon. And when you walked into the bakery that aroma. Wow.

Help in finding a post, please.

A short while ago, someone posted about an excellent Polish vodka.  From a bartender in a boutique hotel in London.  Got home and son gifted a bottle for his birthday.  There was a photo of the bottle and the street view of the hotel.

I'm pretty sure it was on the Crystal board, because that is the board I usually read.  But a search couldn't find it.

Thanks in advance for reading and thanks for a better memory than mine!

Gadzooks! I can't imagine whatever happened to that post.

Anyway, the vodka (wodka) that you seek is Potocki from Poland.

The image was taken at Duke's Hotel in London. And there was a longer narrative that I'll dispense with at present - unless requested by @USCAdventurer for whom the story was intended - don't know if he ever saw it.

Also worth noting, another image of a different vodka - appropriate for the forum because it (the image) was taken aboard Symphony, April 2013. It was shortly after AI and I wanted to know what the not included brand was that cost so much. This (the vodka) was it.

Just a little more OBC and I might have even tried it.

Regards,

Thanks for prompt and informative response.  We looked for this vodka at our favourite liquor store yesterday, but not sure it has cleared our liquor control board.  Now to try Duke's next time we are connecting through London!

Something I never thought of until on a few weeks ago when Whipsnade mentioned this to me when we were discussing the differences between Symphony and Serenity which is that Symphony has a larger outdoor pool than Serenity.

As many useless Crystal facts as I think I have in my head sometimes, I didn't realize until I posted in the Beefbar thread that (completely unrelated, of course) Symphony and Serenity's Bistros have the same capacity (60), or that Symphony actually has the larger Umi Uma (by 4 seats).  Given the history both things make sense, I just didn't realize that was the case.

The new generation of the Best family who bought this house and added a club called the Casbah where the Beatles performed many times, is taking the Cabah to another level.  It now is a Bed & Breakfast with several rooms upstairs in the house. They also have a museum in the downtown area featuring lots of Beatles items. Although Pete Best was dropped from the Beatles the family Pete's brother Vincent Road Best and Roag's father were involved with them and along the way were given lots of items and their museum feature 300 or more of them.  Supposedly the biggest collection other than Paul McCartney's at least according to them. Our guide brought us in their for a minute and we spoke with one of the Best's involved with it.

For those of you who have visited here I can't get into my head how the Beatles performed in such a small room. There was barely space for them to perform and it was kept that way to allows so many people to watch them.  And they played a very stretches of time.  Just amazing.

Thank you, Keith. I’ve been concerned since we haven’t heard from him in a while now.

A beautiful day today touring Samoa whilst sailing aboard Cunard Queen Elizabeth.

I first caught these beautiful creatures when walking about. I asked our guide about them, and she replied how they will follow you in your car. I figured she was pulling my leg, until we got back in the tour van and continued on our way…

This has been a week for concern about there people.

First Roy and was glad to hear from him.

Second is a couple who we say just a couple of weeks ago on Symphony and he is a CC member.  While we were away and heard the terrible news about the storm Anne Marie said she knows we send a holiday card to a couple who live in an area impacted by the hurricane.  When we got home she looked it up and sure enough it was this couple. She tried e-mailing them but no response.  Yesterday I saw the good news on another social media platform that they are OK.

Third is a woman who we met on WC 2007 and again the following year. A very long term Crystal Cruiser and up there in years but who insisted living at home on an island off Florida.  Usually she or Anne Marie call each other every month.  Got home. No call from her.  Anne Marie tried calling the other day no answer.  Was she impacted by the hurricane.  Was there a health issue? Thankfully Anne Marie tried on two different numbers and she answered on the second one. She just recently moved to independent living and thankfully was not impacted by the storm.

I do know one lovely couple (high school sweethearts) from my home town who at the time was in New York but their second home was demolished.  Great attitude.  The wife said her heart went out to those who live there permanently whose home was destroyed as well as to the business owners.

So what does this all mean?

To me what it means is there are more precious things including the well being of people including health and home that are much more important about how many restaurants are open at night or what is served there.  Or who is right about what cruise line has better food or better this or better.......Well you know what I mean.

I know this is CC and some will disagree with me but this is how I think. In the end, it really doesn't matter who is right and you know my view. The only opinion that matters is your own and no one is the winner based on their arguments.

Anyway, my thoughts and I am happy for the four different people who we were thinking about earlier in the week and are still thinking about and my friends from high school who have the right attitude in spite of what they will have to deal with in the coming days, weeks, months and even year.

And my heart goes out to those who have been impacted by this devastating storm.

OK, not to pick on our own great @BEAV but I have noticed this development for some time.  When did the American "while"  morph into the English "whilst.  This genuinely puzzles me.

I thought that was his clever ode to Cunard.  😊  It takes Americans a lot to use whilst in a sentence, so I applaud the effort!

Even us Left Coast libs must adopt the Queen’s English whilst sailing aboard any of the Cunard Queens.

But you can push the panic button, my dear Chef @KenzSailing, once you see me insert the letter “u” to color, labor, and more importantly, flavor! 😉
