Where was I?

Memorial to the women and children who were hiding in the cave during the battle of Okinawa. Rather than surface to be allegedly raped, tortured and murdered by the Americans, they committed mass suicide, with the adults helping the young to die.

Not quite. Yes it is dedicated to female children but not for hiding or mass suicide in caves. They did something else in the caves. These girls had a special name and I need that name to be sure we are talking about the same memorial😉.
