Dermotsgirl Posted September 4, 2020 #604 Share Posted September 4, 2020 We called at Reykjavik on Arcadia in 2012 but didn't take a single photo in the city or port, as we were out all day on the 'Golden Circle' tour. So I'll just post a photo of the geyser that we saw - I could have watched it all day

Loads of photos from the Golden Circle and not a ship in sight.

emam Posted September 4, 2020 #607 Share Posted September 4, 2020 Thanks for the replies re the cold weather cruises. We will have to go on one of those one day. I will look out some of the other photos I have. Rhodes (Lindos), you can just see part of a larger ship at the side. Cruising had never entered our minds when this was taken.

emam Posted September 4, 2020 #609 Share Posted September 4, 2020 Monte Carlo again. Watching Jane McDonald's show, I realised that I had a photo of one of the ships/yacht's that she featured. The lasts one is one the way back to Britannia.

It was a fabulous experience! I think you have been to some very unusual place and would love to go to some of them. Fantastic photos too. emam Posted September 4, 2020 #611 Share Posted September 4, 2020 Naples, Disney Ship. Sorry another few going a long way back to Gibraltar. I don't know how people can say that the big ships are crowded. Arcadia is packed, I've never seen so many people on the ships we have been on.
Elderflower Posted September 4, 2020 #612 Share Posted September 4, 2020 Back to the Qs. Only have Quebec, we have been there twice and were supposed to go again this month. Not many with ships but thought I'd post a flavour of the place. The ship's bow is from Oriana in 2018 when higher tier members of the Peninsular club were invited to cocktails and a roped off area for us to watch as we sailed into Quebec. Elderflower Posted September 4, 2020 #614 Share Posted September 4, 2020 Reykjavik, On Oriana this time and still no ship! The photo of the main street was taken from the top of the church. The menu is to show that they do serve rotten shark.
Elderflower Posted September 4, 2020 #615 Share Posted September 4, 2020 Rio de Janeiro, we were aboard Aurora. My lasting memory of this port was of the graffiti everywhere. Some was 'Street Art' but the majority just a mess defacing some lovely buildings. I thought it very sad.

Elderflower Posted September 4, 2020 #619 Share Posted September 4, 2020 Finally from me, Rijeka, Croatia. We docked in an industrial port on a Sunday when everything was closed. We were advised to do a trip as nothing was open so plumped for the smallest town in the World - Hum. All two streets of it reached after a long and boring motorway drive. You could see all there was in about 5 minutes. Wish we could have been there when Rijeka was open as we might have been more impressed. The port we were in was the ugliest I have seen of any of the ports we have been to.

I've eaten some weird and wonderful things during my far eastern travels, but I would have to go vegetarian in Iceland or starve. Rotten Shark? Minke Whale? Horse? and all washed down with a glass of Black Death🤢No thanks, I'll pass Avril
