Effective 1 November 2020, The Bahamas will require all travelers to:

  • Obtain a COVID-19 RT PCR test five (5) days prior to arrival.
  • Apply for a Bahamas Health Travel Visa at travel.gov.bs
  • For the duration of the visit, complete a daily online health questionnaire for symptom tracking purposes.
  • Take a COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test on Day 5 of the visit (unless departing on day 5).
  •  Always wear a mask and always social distance in public places.
  • In addition, beginning 14 November 2020, all visitors will be required to opt-in to mandatory COVID-19 health insurance when applying for their Health Travel Visa. The insurance will cover travelers for the duration of their stay in The Bahamas.

Do the conditions apply to cruisers..? Article was not that clear.

If so, another good reason to skip that port!

Def will not plan to visit  a land resort there anytime soon!

Bye bye Bahamas!

Agree, though I would never book a cruise with Bahamas as an included port, just nothing at all there that interests me

They do not apply to cruisers. At this time no cruise ships are allowed and so far no protocols to allow cruise ships have been released or even talked about. This includes cruise ship private islands. There is a small cruise line called Bahama Paradise something or the other but don't know what they are doing.

Better to visit ports that don't have strict health regulations to keep their populations safe?

The rules in the Bahamas make sense as they do not want to import COVID 19.    I would think it likely that cruisers getting off the ship will need a negative COVID test and if they come down with the virus after visiting the Bahamas they should also notify the island as they most likely spread the virus while in the islands.

The Bahamas did address that all cruise ships are not allowed until Phase 4 of the COVID program INCLUDING private islands.

Looks like the protocol is to get ready for tourism in the coming months.

Since every cruise ship passenger will be required to be tested before boarding, they likely will be able to visit private islands when Phase 4 arrives.  No date even suggested as Phase 3 just brain on 15 October.

Too many rules, permits, ins reqs  etc as noted in the post link.

We have enjoyed land based visits there more than the cruises ( short flight from home, nice airport) .  We encountered some aggresive vendors last cruise visit while walking to the HILTON, did not feel safe.

For  our travel plans, it is not worth the trouble .

Hopefully, they can keep the folks safe without my travel dollars!
