voljeep Posted November 27, 2020 #1 Share Posted November 27, 2020 with crazy high pricing - $ 235 pp pd for the exact same cabin we have booked for our 6 day mid April 2021 booked at $ XXX pp pd - both with Princess Plus - Deluxe Balcony cat B2 on Caribe, the 4 day cost more than our 6 day western the 4 day leaves on Sat - then Sunday at Princess Cay - followed by 2 at sea days - wondering if this is just a test cruise by Princess created when the over 7 day cruises were cancelled even we wouldn't take that cruise at that pricing
snoozecrooze Posted November 27, 2020 #2 Share Posted November 27, 2020 It seems like they've also gone ahead and put Caribbean on the Sky's original 7-day Canada/NE itineraries as well in fall 2021. I also see additional 7-day summer Caribbean itineraries in place of the original repositioning from Florida to Quebec. As for that 4-day, the pricing is indeed undesirable, but the itinerary itself is something I genuinely see Princess doing through the more unpredictable winter 2021-2022 season. I'm interested to see if this "filler" type of itinerary will be carried out on Regal, whose months are still yet to be filled.
voljeep Posted November 28, 2020 Author #3 Share Posted November 28, 2020 IF, i'm reading the Princess website correct - the 4 day ends in FLL/PE on the 25th and the next scheduled cruise for the CB is a 7 day RT New York / Canada on 8/28/21 Is that even possible ? stay safe 😷 stay hydrated 🧊
railman Posted November 28, 2020 #4 Share Posted November 28, 2020 That makes sense. It will reposition from FLL to NYC without passengers.

They could reposition from FLL to Princess Cay to NYC with passengers, couldn't they? Or would that somehow violate PVSA?

Or would that somehow violate PVSA? PVSA violation - sailing between two different US ports requires stopping at a "distant" foreign port (IE: ABC Islands or Cartagena Columbia). Princess cays does not satisfy the PVSA for a one way. Three days is ample for a deadhead repositioning from FLL to NYC and does not create a PVSA violation as long as it is crew only, no passengers 1

AtlantaCruiser72 Posted November 28, 2020 #8 Share Posted November 28, 2020 Aruba, Bonaire or Curaco are the ONLY ports that can be used for a FLL-NYC repo, and going that far south then back north will take in excess of 7 days which CDC won;t allow. Best bet for any cruise line is to deadhead their ships from Florida to NYC/BOS 1
LeeW Posted November 29, 2020 #9 Share Posted November 29, 2020 Actually a repo that begins or ends in San Juan is also ok. While Puerto Rico is technically part of the US it has an exemption. The NYC/Bermuda/San Juan was around 6 days last time we took it. The place people most often get caught is wanting to sail from LA on the repositioning to Vancouver and then up to Whittier. Not allowed.

While a San Juan Embark/Disembark certainly is legal, Princess has not homeported there for a long, long time. It will be cheaper for them just to deadhead the ship FLL-NYC Rather than create new itineraries , market and sell them, and bring in the needed staff and infrastructure for a one time set of cruises cruise to or from SJU.
