I also read the same article. Very likely they will do away with embarkation lunch in order to implement staggered boarding. Many other things will be different including wearing face masks except while eating, drinking or swimming.  Will be quite the cruise experience.

Of course, it wouldn't take any effort at all to simply assign those booking Concierge class cabin with time slots compatible with the timing of the meal.

The one time we were in a suite our suggested boarding time was 2 pm. Luminae was open 11a to 1p.  They didn’t take into any consideration for the lunch time, or any priority for embarkation for the suite class or CC status.

I've found the Concierge embarkation day lunch limited in hours and options...

We try to get to the pier right before 1PM, when after checking in, almost immediately the cabins are ready, we can leave our carry ons there, and the buffet is suddenly quite empty 😉

Who knows what Health checks will be in place when cruising re starts and whether you will be able to board in time for an embarkation lunch.

I have read that there will be stricter embarkation times given, to cut down on crowds, to adhere to social distancing.

We like the variety of the buffet, and the possibility to tailor the time spent on eating to our preferences. That's why I've mentioned that we try to get on the ship when the cabins are already open.

The crowding of the buffet is due, in part, to the luggage carried on into the dining area.

Even during the cruise, we always eat lunch at the buffet, and most of the evenings, with the exception of "lobster night"😉 --- makes for a quick "in and out"....

We have always viewed these boarding times as "suggested" and have had no difficulty arriving sooner

( I hope I got this right today. Happy to see my quote of the wrong poster yesterday was removed ).

Agree--- It's the same with Priority Boarding --- Check in 3 hrs earlier than suggested time, race to the escalator, and let the person that's in front of you get on " prior " to yourself.

We learned that several years ago from a couple sitting beside our table in the MDR --(  it worked ).

Maybe not any more . With the new restrictions the entire cruise " experience " will be different.

Never had a issue with boarding early in a suite , you will get priority and in suite lounge ASAP,  normally have a drink there then go to Luminae for lunch . Normally escorted to suite lounge by someone from concierge staff.

Didn’t write that I had a problem.  The issue was the time they suggested for a suite passenger and the CC status that also has the priority as a perk.

When  boarding no one escorted or told us to go to Michael’s.  We were directed to go to the buffet.  We boarded at 11 instead of their suggested time.  Luckily having cruised a few times I knew better and proceeded to Micheal's after having a few confrontations with the staff telling us we  had to go to the buffet.

Was there a separate check in line for suites? I had issues with there staff a long time ago but not in last few years, this site is great for getting info for those no knowledge of the perks for suites.

There wasn’t a separate area but a separate check in line.  Everyone proceeded to the gangway and boarded after checking in.   They swiped your card and could see if you were in a suite and etc by the color of your card.

Like you wrote if you don’t do any research you don’t get what you pay for.
