Covid and Healthcare workers

So question, wondering if anyone has the answer. Rcl posted their new contract and it states no person that has had known contact with covid in the past 14 days can cruise. So will that just not allow almost all Healthcare workers to cruise?

Sounds like it.  At least for the time being.

I have not seen the new statement anywhere. The problem will be the "known" part. It will be near impossible to prove in the US and all information is protected by HIPAA laws as well. If they want to quantify known contact and the 14-day window, then no one can cruise. There is no possible way to do that.

Not sure how it’s actually worded. But I get asked every time I schedule any appointment anymore about known close contact to a Covid positive person. Known close contact means being within 6 ft of the person for 15 minutes without medical grade PPE. If the health care workers are wearing appropriate PPE with around known and suspected Covid patients they should be fine.

Since there are no RCCL cruises now and for the immediate future, their posted guidelines will probably change as a cruising re-start draws near.

 

There is also new data suggesting that those who were properly vaccinated do not need to quarantine after an exposure.

 

So debate away, but pay more attention to the guidelines set just before cruising seems feasible again.

I'm not sure "almost all" healthcare workers have been in contact with covid in the past 14 days.  There are MANY healthcare professions that have nothing to do with infectious diseases such as covid (orthopaedists, dermatologists, oby-gyn, pharmacists, etc.).
