I think that they might be trying to attract a younger crowd, who can't get away for as long. The kind of people who might fly to Europe for the weekend.

I am part of the younger group (amongst Crystal) but being in the Midwest - I can't fly to Europe over a weekend.

I hope they do not do that. It is exactly the kind of travel that climate does not like. There are worse ways to do that, but it certainly contributes. I am a little surprised at them offering shorter river cruises, but perhaps it has also something to do with British customers? Are they trying to appeal to those with short distances to fly? I have not looked at the UK market for them much, but I would say the competition is stiff - unless you appeal to the "real" luxury segment. The prices would put me off. I am fine with AmaWaterways or Riviera Travel (either of which I could book although I am in Germany).

On another note: I find the itineraries mentioned differ not much from offers by other companies, the Moselle one is really nice. The incentive to choose Crystal  lies elsewhere and past cruisers and ocean cruisers will know where .

The Mozart itineraries are now available on the Crystal website.

Thanks - off to look!

I like the Vienna RT. I may have to do this again. Thanks.

They seem to be pulling a Viking. All of these fares (at least for the May date that I looked at) are 2-for-1 fares, but the original fares seem to be exorbitant to me (but I have never priced Crystal before).

That said, the fare for a single in a W1 cabin (the only ones that have single fares) are EXACTLY the same as the per person fare for 2 in the same cabin, and for the May 2 sailing is $4,199.

I wonder whether there is a limit on the number of singles per cruise?

38 I would imagine since the marketing material mentions 38 single cabins with no single supplement.

Don't bother looking at brochure fares. That is some anachronism of ocean cruising that no one ever pays.

Crystals announcement from today that reservations are open

New Crystal Mozart and Crystal Mahler 2022 Sailings

Now Open for Reservations

MIAMI, MARCH 12, 2021 – Reservations are now open for the recently announced 2022 deployment for Crystal River Cruises’ Crystal Mozart and Crystal Mahler. Crystal River Cruises unveiled the new itineraries for the two ships this week, also announcing that Crystal Mozart will set sail next year with the industry’s first dedicated suites for solo travelers, available with no single supplement. Travelers can now book an array of new itineraries including Crystal Mozart’s convenient seven-night Danube Dreams & Discoveries round-trip from Vienna and new Christmas and New Year’s sailings. Aboard Crystal Mahler, guests have a selection of new routes at their fingertips, including five-night summer Rhine & Moselle Summer Escapes sailings between Amsterdam and Trier; 10-night fall Splendors of the Rhine & Moselle voyages between Amsterdam and Basel; 14-night Magnificent Europe sailings between Amsterdam and Budapest on the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers; and a 10-night Holidays on the Rhine sailing from Basel to Amsterdam.

In addition to the new itineraries, Crystal Mahler will sail popular seven-night Romantic Rhine and Legendary Rhine itineraries between Amsterdam and Basel and springtime Tulips & Windmills voyages on Dutch waterways and the Rhine River round-trip from Amsterdam. The latter showcases the once-in-a-decade Floriade Expo near Amsterdam, where the city and surrounding area transform with flora and greenery from across the globe.

Cruise fares for the new 2022 Crystal River Cruises start at $2,999 per guest, with Book Now Savings up to $1,000 per guest, five percent savings when guests book back-to-back cruises and exclusive Crystal Society savings.

In that case the entire lower deck (with fixed windows - but they are large) is available for singles. If they were all sold to singles, then the cheapest price per person for a couple would actually be quite a bit higher, because they would be in French balcony cabins.

AKA Aquarium Class

If I wanted a single and this was an attractive price I would book it.  It isn't the same experience as a French balcony though

I wouldn't consider this the same as aquarium class on most other lines. The fixed window is a pretty good size, and you don't have to crane your head up to look out it. I don't think that I would want it in the heat, but there is a lot of public space, particularly when they reduce the number of passengers from 154 to 120.
