We have found that the mini-bar is replenished on every leg even when we book it as one.  I don't think they even bother trying to sort out whether it is one cruise or two, etc.  Probably not worth the effort.

Also, you usually have to ask the Internet Manager to carry over any unused time, but internet minutes are done cumulatively by each leg also.  Never had a problem with that.

We've also found that even if we book a cruise as one cruise, our number of Captain Cruises Completed goes up by however many segments it was.  For example, one cruise we booked as one cruise shows up as 36 days, 3 cruises.

All room service knows is that the cabin is occupied by an elite passenger. Therefore the set up the mini bar

Was it shown as two separate 7 and one 14 option ? If so did you see a difference in fare ?

I saw it advertised as a 14-day. This is what I booked. I'm sure it was also listed as separate 7-day cruises, but I didn't look at the fares back then

I just took a quick look at the 14-day departing on Nov. 28 from Ft. Lauderdale and for the balconies, it looks like you might save a dollar by booking them separately. Although in the area I looked, there were fewer cabins to choose from for the 14-day.

We went on B2B --Sydney to Cairns and back then Sydney to Hawaii in the same cabin but had to change when we added Hawaii to San Diego as an afterthought. It turned out better than the whole cruise as one because we changed membership levels after the 2 nd cruise and therefore got the perks. If you book all one cruise they will not give you your new status until the next trip!  40 days total.

If you book multiple cruises as a single cruise you are awarded a cruise credit(s) for each leg of the cruise. If the extra cruise credit(s) doesn't show in your account just contact the Captain's Circle. If you change loyalty status while on board, at the end of any leg, you may have to visit the on board Captain's Circle rep. to have your status changed and to receive any additional benefits.

If you book multiple cruise legs b2b.... as individual bookings and you qualify for a new loyalty level at the end of any one of the legs you may also have to visit the Captain's Circle rep. in case the new loyalty level is missed.

skynight is 100% correct.

However I would change the phrasing from "may have to visit" the CC rep to definitely make that visit.

Your status does not change until the end of a segment. However the next segment's status is determined before the end of the earlier segment and thus will likely not be correct. I suggest visiting the CC rep during the earlier segment in the hopes it can be set up correctly for the new segment.

As many post here, Princess isn't consistent with pricing, way things work.  I book Grand Adventures but this time, I saved thousands on a Baltic, following TA separately for 2023.  I'm not talking 1,000, closer to 3,500, when you're sailing as a single this matters.  I always check, my TA always checks, because you never know.  This time, separate worked out better for me.

If this is the April 2022 sailing, we are booked on that one.  We started out as a 28 day but quickly figured out, as you have, that a 6 + 22 worked to our benefit.  Also, since hubby gets a casino discount, the shorter segments were discounted but the longer one was not.  You'll also get more shareholder obc, slightly more fcd obc, and more internet minutes (if any of that pertains to you).

I had a thread on here not long ago asking what all changes with a b2b (such as dining assignment, etc) because we were making this exact decision.  Needless to say, we went with the b2b.

Hmm did you see current flooding in Sydney - wondering about time of year to visit, close to April 2 sail date for next year.

I did see the flooding.  It's really devastating.  This is a 50 year flood so I don't know if it is common for flooding in Sydney this time of year or not.  Either way, I hope all our Aussie friends stay safe.

We were in Sydney in end of March/April, don't remember rain. In the North April is at the end of the wet season. The rain season is December to April in the north. I guess with climate change flooding is becoming more common.

  • 1 year later...

Looking at adding a Panama Canal cruise before our TA next Spring. It gets in the same day the next cruise leaves.  Should something happen to cause debarkation to be late and we miss embarkation on the next cruise, would the second one be refundable?

Without Vacation Protection, probably not, but I can’t think of any Princess sailings that got in so late or had CBP issues such that a side-by-side passenger couldn’t be prioritised for disembarkation and transfer, short of major weather disaster.

To expand, the latest I’ve ever stepped off a Princess ship was 1:30 at LA, and that was 100% on CBP, and 100% unusual.  The last passenger was off by 2:00.   With side-by-side/tail-to-tail passengers being Known to Guest Services, I am pretty sure they would have been able to Do Something About It.

I’m secretly hatching a plot to do a tail-to-tail with a change of terminal (from San Diego to LA), if the stars align.  *That* one might be a little risky.
