Maplemoose Posted July 9, 2021 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2021 I have noticed Privasea oceanview cabins available on the Joy. Searching this forum, all I can find are Privasea balcony references, alluding to hull enclosed balconies but not a mention of the peculiarities of Privasea oceanviews. Anybody here any experience or knowledge?
ClevelandCruisin Posted July 9, 2021 #2 Share Posted July 9, 2021 Probably will look something like this.

Anybody here any experience or knowledge? Where do you see that mentioned? All I can think is that they mean cabins on the outside of the ship. I have been in oceanview cabins in the past that looked out onto a public walking area so you had to draw a curtain for privacy.

Unless I'm totally missing it, that is neither an OV or a hull balcony. A privasea (marketing term introduced a few years back) for a balcony with steel enclosure are usually forward with some aft. OP, I've not seen that term but will look. My guess is an OV with something like a lifeboat outside. Marketing spin.

Maplemoose Posted July 9, 2021 Author #8 Share Posted July 9, 2021 Where have I seen it? I did a mock booking and one of the options had a legend with the white square included. The white square is denoted to be "privasea". I don't remember the cabin number but I will repeat the exercise today and post the cabin number. The one thing I find frustrating with NCL is the limited number of cabins offered online. I don't know why they can't show everything available as others do. Maplemoose Posted July 9, 2021 Author #9 Share Posted July 9, 2021 Ok, I just looked at the deck plans and it was 5748.
trivimp Posted July 9, 2021 #10 Share Posted July 9, 2021 The icon actually means wheelchair accessible, not Privasea. The two icons are similar, so confusing....
ClevelandCruisin Posted July 9, 2021 #11 Share Posted July 9, 2021 (edited) I've never heard of Oceanview privasea. Only enclosed balconies from other ships. Edited July 9, 2021 by ClevelandCruisin
ClevelandCruisin Posted July 9, 2021 #12 Share Posted July 9, 2021 You can look up room 5748 with photos. Everything is handicap accessible. Hope this helps OP.
Maplemoose Posted July 9, 2021 Author #13 Share Posted July 9, 2021 Yes, thanks. I can see clearly now. The legend is not "colored in" very well! I was not aware of the websites with the photos!

Good web design all around! 😜
Sunbeam56 Posted September 27, 2023 #16 Share Posted September 27, 2023 I just checked our oceanview cabin (7560) on Pride of America and it has a clear square = PrivaSea. I think it probably means fully obstructed. We will find out in November 2023.

Your view will be obstructed by lifeboat but you'll still see the sky and sea.
