the ladies all turned up their noses!

My wife can't stand the smell either. She says it smells like gasoline. I just say I have to drink something to keep the engine running.

I've tried to like it, even ordered ladies Whiskey or Bourbon cocktails to be cool, but Todd had finish them off....don't like Scotch for the same reason....I love rum

The current trend is to add a lot of cinnamon and put the word "fire" on the label, after the success of Fireball.  Jack Daniel's Tennessee Fire is an example.  Between the strong cinnamon taste and the lower alcohol content, my wife tried it and said it was something she might consider drinking (which means show probably never will).  The few times that she has tasted one of my bourbon drinks, she makes a face, practically spits it out, and almost immediately says yuck.  "Might consider drinking" is therefore a significant improvement.

Other than the new name, having fewer beer choices, fewer to no draft beers and a different food menu, nothing else really changed. 🙂

I still don't understand the lack of good draft beer in the Royal pubs.  Typical for me has been 2, or sometimes just one, beer available on tap.  Why????  I would think that many beer drinkers would love a good selection of draft beers and the profit margin would be significantly higher than in a bottle/can.  I've never sailed Carnival but the brewery on the Vista alone has me considering them.  Off my soap box and back to the cruise...

It was a traditional whiskey warehouse made of old wooden timbers quietly aging approximately 20,000 thousand, 53 gallon white oak barrels filled with fine Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey. The alcohol would have had a barrel entry proof somewhere between 100 and 125 proof making for a very tasty Bourbon but also making it extremely flammable.

Within a four hour period, seven warehouses and the actual distillery were completely lost to the fire. Of the 44 warehouses on site, 37 survived the fire. In total, over 90,000 barrels of Bourbon were lost, two percent of the world’s whiskey at the time.

One thing that emerged from this whiskey tragedy was a great bluegrass song by the Galoots called “Heaven Hill’s on Fire.” Only seems right that a Kentucky bluegrass band would be singin’ the blues about the loss of whiskey.

He exaggerated, I finally found it for $199 a bottle.  But it's an anniversary production, the original saved from the distillery may have indeed gone for $500.

Heaven Hill makes some GREAT juice...I mean whiskey...lol.  I have quite a few of their brands including my favorite everyday bourbon Elijah Craig Bottled In Bond (white label)...

Thanks for that. I could've swore I read 5 days or less before arriving in the Bahamas. You just confirmed I was right! (I'm not going bat s__ t crazy). Even with this small "speed bump", it was no biggie. They just send you to another room and give you a rapid antigen test. They e-mail the result. I had my result on my phone in about 15 min.

For me, I arrived 4 days before the cruise day, so I arrived on 7/13. My pcr test date was 7/9, which is within the 5 day window. However, as I quickly found out (the speed bump), it has to be 5 days or less from sail date (7/17), so it would have to be a pcr test date of 7/12 or closer to 7/17 (sail date). Since my pcr date was 7/9, it was out of date and not close enough to sail date. But, as I said, it was a small "speed bump". All good now, I'm onboard at the Duck & Dog pub with a cold Blue Moon in front of me;

Sounds to me like the Bahamas is making quite the financial killing!

Fireball is perfect.....you take a shot and dump it in your pint of apple cider, and boom, apple pie.  That is all it is perfect for in my book BTW.   LOL

You need to get on any NCL ship from Escape or newer if you want a good pub with lots of great beer on tap.

I've never understood it either. The equipment is there, usually for 6 or 8 different draft beers, and to me it just seems ineptly managed to not be using the equipment and offering the choices. Yet time and again I see choices of everything being reduced or there at least being little to no concern for keeping various liquor brands in stock. Heck in June on Adventure at some bars we were constantly having to chase down grapefruit juice to make my drinks. And that's many years after seeing some ships move from Ocean Spray grapefruit juice to Bluebird. Cheaper/poorer quality is always their target.

I have always suspected it's at least partly to blame on drink packages as the general incentive to encourage people to drink is disappearing when profit is now increased by discouraging people from drinking, when you're not really earning per-drink profits anymore.

Yeah, I thought Carnival had a ship (or 2) with an onboard brewpub. Yeah, that's one good idea that Carnival had that Royal should mimic. Right @oteixeira?

Pretty sure NCL was the first with the District Brew House in 2016, but yea Carnival also has them.  Not sure what Royal is doing there, beer is a big part of the American culture, you would think they would play more to that.

I am a big fan of Henry McKenna 10 Year Old Bottled-in-Bond from HH. Incredible. You used to be able to find it everywhere for $30. Now lucky to find it anywhere for $50. I've got two bottles stashed at home.

Yeah, that's right. I forgot NCL has The District Brewhouse. I think Carnival's is called Guy's Pig & Anchor? Yeah, RCI needs to get onboard (ship embarkation pun fully intended,).

RedFrog Pub & Brewery

I would enjoy a Brew Pub (or better selection on tap) on a Royal ship, but I don't think it is missed.  The majority of cruisers appear to be happy with their Miller Lite/Bud/Bud Light/Heineken/Ultra/Corona/Stella/Truly.  While generally more profitable, beer on tap is somewhat of a logistical PIA.

Oh yeah, RedFrog Pub & Brewery. Thanks. Do you know if Mardi Gras will have one of these? My guess is yes.

Miller/Lite/Bud/Bud Light/Ultra. Are those really beer or just beer flavored water?

At Johnny Rockets for lunch (and I don't usually eat lunch).

I didn't even say anything and the waiter brought me this;

I've ordered the "66", which is a burger with Swiss cheese & mushrooms. I'll grab a pic for some burger porn.

Tonight, it's Giovanni's for dinner.

Just going by what I found online, no Pub on Mardi Gras, but it will have a RedFrog Tiki Bar.  No mention of whether or not there will be Carnival brews available.

I would call those flavored water, but people drink the **** out of them.
