Rare Harters Posted August 11, 2021 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2021 Folks - although we havent yet decided on a 2023 cruise, I'm pretty sure we will want an A1 Concierge Veranda stateroom. I see they are spread across decks 10, 11, 12. Can more experienced cruisers please offer any advice as to whether one deck may be better than another. I'm aware of the usual advice that the lower the deck the less pitch/roll but, other than that, I can't really see one deck offers an advantage over the others. Am I missing something? clairol Posted August 11, 2021 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2021 We have always preferred 10. 11 has an overhang from 12 that we find unpleasant. We have never been on 12.
Rare LHT28 Posted August 11, 2021 #3 Share Posted August 11, 2021 we prefer deck 9 in the A 2 or 3's but deck 12 A's are more forward & if you do not mind the motion of the Ocean probably would be quiet up there with the suites Deck 11 is under the pool deck so may hear noises from chairs being moved early morning All the A cabins are the same just location that makes a difference JMO
Norseh2o Posted August 12, 2021 #4 Share Posted August 12, 2021 Our next cruise, November, 2021 Marina is deck 12 Concierge A-1, we have only sailed A-3 as we don’t (haven’t?) get seasick & we love being forward, not aft, in a ship. Hopeful that this A-1 location, with nothing/no one above us & tucked between penthouse, vista, owner suites (whatever!) will be our new favorite cabin. 🚢
Rare Harters Posted August 12, 2021 Author #5 Share Posted August 12, 2021 Thanks, so far. I think we're settled on a particular cruise on Riviera and now have a shortlist of staterooms. Amongst our original choice of A1 staterooms, we like the look of 10051, 10053 and 10076. Taking up LHT28's point about A2, we reminded ourselves that this is what we had on our previous O cruise on Marina so we're also thinking about 9074 or 9075. Any thoughts on these particular ones - they are all midship as we're not keen on being right at the front or back? Hoping to make a decision in the next couple of days and are in contact with O for a costed proposal, including transatlantic air fare, etc.

mtnlvr53 Posted August 12, 2021 #7 Share Posted August 12, 2021 We are looking at sailing to South America with a Drake crossing on the Marina. We likely will have rough seas at least some of the time. We were thinking Concierge A3 but it is on deck 9 and we wonder about sway/rolling. Can anyone give us thoughts on which cabin to book (only a few are available/at least one near the stairs-which has never bothered us before.) Thanks for your thoughts. Not intending to steal the thread but it seemed to be in the same thought process as the original question.
Paulchili Posted August 13, 2021 #8 Share Posted August 13, 2021 The safest choice for a quiet cabin is to have cabins both above a below your cabin. I prefer aft as I am prone to sea sickness and prefer to be closer to dining venues.
Rare Harters Posted August 13, 2021 Author #9 Share Posted August 13, 2021 Cruise booked! Cabin 9075. Funnily enough, the O booking agent (who could not have been more helpful) suggested this one straight away so we were more than OK. Just a few doors down from the one we had on Marina. This is Riviera's repositioning cruise in March 2023, Miami to Rome. Very happy with price, with a good early booking discount, and only a small deposit taken. Includes for land transfers and pre-cruise night in Miami hotel. At present, it includes for flights from our home airport to London on the day of the Miami flight but, if we decide we want to fly to London the day before and stay in a hotel at the airport (which we probably will want to), that will be at our expense. Flight back from Rome to home airport included. Entirely satisfied with arrangements. It's been a good 24 hours (yesterday was our anniversary). Thanks again, folks, for your advice and comments. Now, back to planning our UK week away next month. John
Rare DENIE Posted August 18, 2021 #10 Share Posted August 18, 2021 We booked A3 stateroom 9100 on Riviera for our first cruise with Oceania (June 2022). We liked that it wasn't too far forward, and not all the way in the back. Not too concerned about movement at that deck. Also like that there are staterooms above and below us. Plainfred Posted September 29, 2021 #15 Share Posted September 29, 2021 We like the A1s on 12. Just walk out to pool, beyond to aft buffet, without elevator or stairs.
