Current Sailing capacity

Does anyone have any idea what the passenger capacity percentage is on Carnival sailings? I just got off a Royal Caribbean cruise, and the ship we were on sailed at 30% passenger occupancy. Just wondering how full the ships are. There was actually more crew on board than passengers. Unique experience.

There is no published set capacity. On any cruiseline. Probably against stock sec rules I would think. You will never see a set percentage.

If rcl or carnival could sell more cabins they would. Both are offering a lot of free or almost free casino offers. Carnival has had a ton of cheap offers.

With yet another change in protocols expect more cancellations and probably lower prices. I can book on rcl for under $500 solo so there is a reason they cant fill to any capacity.  Carnival offering solo pricing too. .. read the tea leaves. Rcl said they were going to add 10% a  month... wanna bet?

John Heald has stated most cruises are around 70%  occupancy.

I think that's typical of the 7 day cruises. Though they started almost 3k and last vista was 2400ish. Under 2500, so capacity is dropping.

The shorter cruises I think are having even more trouble filling.

If my sailing on Horizon Saturday is at 50%, I won't know what to do with all that empty space on board. It will have to feel odd. I don't know anything but sailing at capacity. Maybe I can sleep in a bit on sea days and still get a chair on lido at that capacity 😉

It's not 50 % but it was pretty perfect.  Enough people to make it fun but no lines or waiting. For example, we had my time dining.  When we were ready, in our cabin, we would check in and before we could get to the dining room our table was ready.  No lines in the buffet, maybe a couple deep at Guy's  when they opened.

I was on the 8/21 Magic sailing. Based on the number of passengers as told to us by the cruise director during the Plat / Diamond party,  our sailing was as about 55% assuming 2 per cabin, and 45% factoring all cabins that can hold 3 or more passengers. There were no / few lines for food but the pools / hot tubs and indoor / outdoor bars were still quite popular and often crowded. Plenty of deck chairs and no need to save. AM-JKLUx_72rcxiGuJnhMtM9sX-yP8Is0zOaZBUAI-sNV6y8Xq0urmCRrpGm7xgex6kr0htHtdDiUXEWStPKpoevYfO_xNkRAUDp3x2DGp1GXnaOiZhJ9QhPjuN_kz3vpSnqOoFA6zjX6rQl48pIFM8yVQ2csw=w1800-h1299-no?authuser=0

We found the Magic the same.  It was nice!

Why would carnival rush to restart more sailings if they are having so much trouble filling the cruises that are going? Capacity is falling ... because people arent booking. They are cancelling. Expect more cancellations not fewer.

I would imagine they are sailing those restarts because they have already pre-sold enough cabins, and they know if they cancel it just kicks the can down the road and they will then have ships still idling at a fixed cost.  So if they can get crew and "enough" pax on board to lose less money than not sailing, it is still potentially worth it.

Some revenue is better than no revenue.

So long as they get enough passengers to turn a profit they should be restarting more ships.

Until they get past those rebooking with 600 obc its doubtful they are profitable .. just my opinion.

I think they ceo said many months ago he hoped ccl would be profitable by 2023.

Any revenue is good true, but if someone cant book one ship, they may book another. Galveston has 3 ships. When  dream said restarting end of sept we got some off them on vista. Some will be willing to change ships is what I meant by until they have enough bookings, they may not be in a hurry to restart every ship.
