sunonfire Posted September 26, 2021 #1 Share Posted September 26, 2021 What was the capacity of your recent cruise on Carnival? I have an upcoming cruise on Celebrity and the Celebrity boards have numerous postings saying they are sailing from 29% to 35 capacity.. I haven’t seen those details for Carnival. I have a cruise booked with Carnival so I am curious if they are doing the reduced capacity like Celebrity. Thanks.
firefly333 Posted September 26, 2021 #2 Share Posted September 26, 2021 Longer cruises have been close or about 70%. Shorter cruises less capacity as they are harder to fill. Mine was at about 70% last week on vista. About double what rcl is doing.
CruisinMama2003 Posted September 26, 2021 #3 Share Posted September 26, 2021 Same here for Vista at the end of July, we had 2900 passengers on board 😱
Rare IntrepidFromDC Posted September 26, 2021 #4 Share Posted September 26, 2021 I was told our 9/12 Pride sailing was 55%, seems about right. MDR late dining was much less than 50%, I estimate 30%
furf_n_slo Posted September 26, 2021 #5 Share Posted September 26, 2021 Currently on Vista with 2,251 passengers.

groundloop Posted September 26, 2021 #7 Share Posted September 26, 2021 I was on Magic 9/18 - 9/23 and was told by a crewmember that we were at 70%. Also, I noticed that there were certain decks where the forwardmost section of cabins were closed off.

I wonder if those were cabins they had blocked off for use as quarantine cabins should the need arise?
ChrisNCruiser Posted September 26, 2021 #9 Share Posted September 26, 2021 I was on the Magic 8/21: they were at 55% 'Double Capacity' (two people per cabin) and 45% Max Capacity (to account for the cabins that can hold more than two). It was awesome...

DPTexas Posted September 28, 2021 #12 Share Posted September 28, 2021 Just returned from the Breeze this morning and we were told it was at 70% capacity. It seemed less sometimes because the venues for the shows were at 1/2 capacity most days, except for the "Deal or No Deal" and "Love and Marriage shows". MDR early dining looked to be at 70%. There was rarely any queuing at the elevators. The only time people were waiting in line was for the MDR early dining for the doors to open. Also, it took no time for debarkation this morning. We had breakfast at 8:00 and left the MDR around 8:35, then waited on level 4 for an announcement for our number (we were the last tag at #26). Around 8:50-ish, an announcement was made for the last call for all remaining guests - which surprised us because we never expected it to take that short of time. We left the ship right then and by the time we went through the facial recognition, etc. at Customs, there were very few bags waiting at the #26 station. Then, with the porter helping with bags, we were at the shuttle station by 9:06. Easy-peasy and oh so quick - so much faster than ever before. (BTW, it makes it difficult because you can't hear announcements in the MDR.) We never expected it to take such little time for debarkation. In fact, we waited longer for the shuttle to pick us up than it took for the whole debarkation process. So ready to go again!!!

I asked and was told it was sailing at 70% capacity. Friends who have already cruised said it made a nice difference in the MDR and casino. Interestingly debarkation took a lot longer than normal when we got off of Magic last week. However, it seemed to be an issue with how quickly guests could get through the lines etc. at Port Canaveral and had nothing to do with getting off the ship. I was impressed with the ease at both the embarkation and debarkation process at Galveston. Plus, everyone was so friendly and welcoming, thanking us for cruising! In fact, I was trying to answer some work emails before boarding and they called our section (A03) faster than I thought they would. I am curious, however, how capacity and ports play into this, and how the capacities will change as cruising becomes more routine. Hope you had a great cruise. It was nice to be back onboard ship! This was a quicker/shorter cruise for us, but so looking forward to a much-longer one in 2022.

surfjock27 Posted September 28, 2021 #18 Share Posted September 28, 2021 I called Carnival yesterday to upgrade my cabin for MG 10/16 and the agent stated “all ships are sailing at a mandated 50% capacity..” but that made no sense to me because I’ve seen people on here state their cruises are upwards of 80%. I think it’s safe to say somewhere between 0% and 100%. 😉
Fla Mike Posted September 28, 2021 #19 Share Posted September 28, 2021 We just got off the Sept 23rd Magic sailing yesterday. My PVP said it was capped at 65%, but it sure seemed like a lot more to me. We also had a very slow debark due to a escalator being down at the terminal, but IN THE MIDDLE OF DEBARK THEY CLOSED ALL THE SHIPS ELEVATORS FOR AN OPERATIONAL MAINTENANCE CHECK??? Who does that? We were able to self assist off at 9:
debnrick Posted September 28, 2021 #20 Share Posted September 28, 2021 I agree .. somewhere between 0% and 100% FOR SURE!!!!!
Jasonsterling Posted September 28, 2021 #21 Share Posted September 28, 2021 We had 2102 passengers on the Breeze August the 21st. Double occupancy is just over 3600 and Max capacity around 4700 so we were between 45 and 55 percent full depending what number was used. The popular areas on the ship inside still felt pretty full. The outside deck areas rarely did.
