Doesn't anyone cruise on the Glory?

I just picked up a last minute cruise on the Glory and have been scouring the boards for general hints, tips, secrets, ship info, likes, etc. In the first 15 pages, I haven't found a single mention of her.  Even a specific search hasn't brought her up other than some pre-covid reviews. Can anyone satisfy my pre-cruise hunger for Glory information?

I was supposed to be on Glory this week but this summer I canceled and rebooked Valor for 10 days next July. Wife was against taking our boy out of school to cruise.

We did Glory&Valor SXS a few several years ago after the 2.0 upgrades. Red Frog, Blue Iguana and Guy's Burgers all good additions. We really enjoy the Conquest class ships. We're gonna try Horizon/Christmas and Vista/Spring Break.

Glory has the new livery/paint job with the blue tapering and flowing down the ship. Don't know if they freshened up the ship any.

Almost certainly they freshed the ship generally.
That's what dry docks do.

Leaving on the Glory Sunday. Can’t wait to be back on a ship. We were on the Glory back in 2006 and I’m excited to see the new look. I’ve read a few reviews on another app from people who got off this week and they loved it. No one had a bad thing to say about their experience.

We are cruising on the Glory for 7 nights for NYE!! We cannot wait to be back on the open sea with the sun shinning on our faces!   I've also been looking for reviews as well as roll calls for our specific sailing!

We are on that one too.

I live in New Orleans and have sailed on the Glory.

Great ship!

Typical for a Carnival ship--has all the usual Carnival stuff: Guy's, Punchliner, etc.

I usually hangout on the Serenity Deck and at the Alchemy Bar.

Serenity Deck has clamshells on the forward deck that are great for privacy!

I was on the Sept 26 sailing of Glory. Not sure exactly what you are looking for. Besides the new livery, they did a permanent repair to the Glory hole from the collision a while back. Sailing down the Mississippi is still one of the unique attractions of cruising from New Orleans. You will see some blue tarps as temporary patches from Ida damage. You might still see a barge or two up on the bank of the Mississippi.

Even more hotels should be available and certainly more restaurants open in New Orleans.

If you are driving (or perhaps flying), if a Saints home game, be aware there could be a lot of traffic heading for the Superdome.

Check out Glory reviews on YouTube.

Some are 1-2 years old but really do a great job giving you a tour of the ships and its attractions.  I've been watching for updates since they sailed 3 weeks ago but hardly anything.  We sail this Sunday, can hardly wait.

I haven't been in two years but here's my stuff from back then Carnival Glory. I'll be back on in March so there will be a live review on this forum then. And if you need it here is my stuff for New Orleans.

Saint Greg, you have great stuff and I used it a couple of years back and will again in February 2022 when DH and I get to resume cruising!

I didn't think about the Saints. They have a 3:25 game that day. Will that create a traffic problem in the mid-morning when we are driving through?

Mid-morning shouldn't be a problem and there are ways around the traffic. Just something to be aware of. That and drivers in New Orleans can be kamikazes.

We were on the Glory Sept. 26th sailing. It was one of the best cruises we have taken.

Our last cruise before this one was a two week cruise on the Glory down to the Panama Canal in Feb. 2000, so we are familiar with the ship. The big plus on the Sept. cruise was the smaller number of passengers. It seemed like there was only half the normal number. Press the elevator button and presto, an elevator was there. Playing in the casino and need a drink? Just turn around and wave and a waiter was there. Want to go to the comedy club on opening night? You can arrive fifteen minutes early and get a great seat or arrive just before the show starts and get a good seat or go any time you want and sit at a front table (everyone is afraid of being picked on – and you will be if you walk in late).

On the negative side, though nothing was a big deal for us, was slimmer pickings at the buffet, no bacon out in trays for most of the cruise (though I was able to get some of what little they had in omelets at the omelet station until the last day), a few doorways arbitrarily roped off per CDC requirements (made no sense – you could walk up to the rope on one side then walk around a bit and walk up to the rope from the other side), and of course wearing masks in the casino and dining areas when not eating.

I was a bit disappointed in the condition of the wood on the decks. It looks like they did a good bit of painting during the covid break, but lots of the deck looked like it could have used some care.

All in all it was a great cruise. When it returns to full capacity I expect it will be like the days of old and we will pine for the covid cruise days though. We’ve been spoiled.

We were on the "collision cruise".  Had no idea anything substantial had occurred until we got off the ship and saw it - whoa!  Anyway, I just booked another cruise on the Glory today for 12/19/2021.  CCL sent me way too good of a deal to pass up!  We said we wouldn't sail in masks, but for the deal we got, we'll sail in masks and anything else they want us to!  LOL!  Now I just hope the testing works out - fingers crossed!  The Glory is one of our faves for sure - not too large or small.  This will be our 3rd trip with her.  We even made friends with our head waitress and assistant waiter in the MDR.  We probably won't be lucky enough for them to be back on the Glory this time, but we will certainly look for them.  We also love sailing out of NOLA.  For one thing it's an easy drive for us.  And as you mentioned, sailing down the Mighty Mississippi is a unique experience for sure.  Can't wait!  Will be our first post-CV cruise!
