madera cruiser Posted November 4, 2021 #1 Share Posted November 4, 2021 Does anyone know how to get a new Carnival PVP? I have tried to contact the person filling in for my PVP to no avail. I have also requested a new PVP from Carnival's website. No go there either.
nwcruiselover Posted November 4, 2021 #2 Share Posted November 4, 2021 You have already tried the suggested ways of getting a PVP assigned to you. On Cruise Critic we’re not allowed to recommend a PVP, but maybe you know someone who cruises Carnival and can recommend their PVP to you. Good luck! Having a good PVP makes things a lot easier.
madera cruiser Posted November 5, 2021 Author #3 Share Posted November 5, 2021 I am trying to re- book a re-booked cancelled cruise. I don't want to have to give up our incentives. 21 previous cruises under our belt, and can't seem to make this happen with calling Carnival direct.
Clarasgrandma Posted January 4, 2022 #4 Share Posted January 4, 2022 I’m also wanting to switch PVP’s. I wondered if you have to do anything special in order to switch or is it as simple as contacting whoever you choose directly and booking?
Virga Posted January 4, 2022 #5 Share Posted January 4, 2022 Mine frustrates me so much! He's never available when I need him, doesn't respond to emails in a timely manner anymore, he suggested texting but that didn't get me a response in time to book before my Amex promo expired on the 31st or my casino offers expired yesterday. The worst part? When he calls me after I've been pricing stuff on the website (he thankfully does this less often now) he always acts offended that I've booked myself online. Suck less, and I'd book with you, dude! 2

I have switched PVP’s twice, once when my original PVP left Carnival, the second time when I wasn’t pleased with the service from my PVP. I got referrals from friends who liked their PVP and simply called the new one and they took over. I now have a great one who I hope stays with Carnival a long time.
Clarasgrandma Posted January 4, 2022 #7 Share Posted January 4, 2022 Thanks for the info nwcruiselover! My current PVP and I are not clicking. I'm not sure what I did wrong to irritate her but she doesn't seem to want to answer my occasional questions. She has blocked me from her FB cruising page and again, I didn't say or do anything wrong to my knowledge. Starting to feel like i'm in high school again! LOL Any way, I do have a PVP in mind and will contact him directly. Thanks again! Vikki
FTLCruiseGal Posted January 4, 2022 #8 Share Posted January 4, 2022 I called the 800 number and made a comment about my PVP not responding to voicemails and emails and voila, he called me within 10 minutes of me hanging up with Carnival. I still changed — called the 800 number and asked for a new PVP. 2

sd63 Posted January 5, 2022 #10 Share Posted January 5, 2022 I've never had a PVP until a few months ago. Always booked online through the Carnival website. For those of you who have had a PVP for some time, what is their value? The one I have for the last few months doesn't do anything for me unless I contact her. And when I contact her it's just to book a cruise I've found online. So really it's just an extra step for me because instead of finishing the booking online now I must contact her to finish the booking. I'm not seeing how a PVP benefits me. Can someone enlighten me?

That's a good question. I had a PVP reach out to me a few years ago while I was doing some mock bookings online. I told him that I'd be booking online shortly, once I had the funds. He then asked that I book with him. I asked why and his reply was, "because, I'm a hard working American." Told him that was good enough for me. He called me a couple of weeks later and I booked through him.
Johnc3211 Posted January 5, 2022 #12 Share Posted January 5, 2022 We found our first PVP on Facebook. She did a great job of guiding us through our first cancelled cruise and rebooking. I think she has left the company. Our current PVP I may have found on Google. He has taken real good care of us with all our rebookings. I usually find the cruise and call him. He has gotten us better deals than I could get on my own. With all the Covid rebookings and FCC he has handled everything with ease. Just a phone call or e-mail.

Bear in mind that some PVPs have been known to call customers a LOT -- in my case, it was too much: many years ago I had a PVP who was calling me often enough with so-so cruise deals that I told him I didn't want to use him anymore. SO, your PVP may be erring on the side of caution and not calling you too often, or at all. If you want her to call you more often with deals, you can tell her exactly what sort of cruise or fare you'd like her to call you about. Beyond just booking my cruises and checking stateroom inventory that may not be available to the general public on the website, my PVP also easily linked our reservation with our cruise-friends' so it was easier for us to book specialty dining, etc. I think it also pre-linked us within the app for Carnival Chat onboard, which was handy. (And the free chat worked surprisingly well.) And right now with COVID, the best benefit: having an easier point of contact to make changes or cancel, instead of playing Carnival Toll-Free Hunger Games and trying to reach the general phone number; the odds are seldom in your favor. If I have to cancel my upcoming cruise, I can simply call her and even if she is unavailable and I have to leave her a message, she has always called me back within an hour, sometimes within 5 minutes...even on a Sunday. ❤️
RWolver672 Posted January 6, 2022 #14 Share Posted January 6, 2022 We always cruise with my brother ans SIL. We pick a ship and date, then I call our PVP. He has all of our information on file. He tells us which cabins are available that we can open the balcony divider in the area that we normally choose. I book one of the cabins and he holds the other for my brother. Then I contact brother and they call and give their credit card number and book theirs. For our last cruise, I had their CC number and did it all through him. He knows what dining time we like and always connects the two bookings for seating. He then sends both of us our confirmation papers. He was very helpful in cancelling our booking on the MG during this mess and getting our money back for us. He doesn't like doing anything through e-mails. If I need to talk with him, I leave a message on his phone and he usually calls back within a few minutes. He knows we only cruise every other year so he doesn't bother us with unwanted pushy calls.

I think also to have a direct line to someone right now is really helpful. The waits to talk to someone on the phone right now are absolutely insane. If you have a good pvp that will answer that helps tremendously.

I started using a PVP because they have access to cabins I cannot find online (Carnival only shows 10 at a time) and I want specific cabins. She is accessible by e-mail or voicemail and I get a call back... no long hold before I talk to someone. When we decided to upgrade from a cove balcony to a 7th deck one she was able to quickly make that happen. She makes sure the deal I am booking is the best for me.

Wow. The benefits are endless. I got my PVP right before the pandemic hit, so when I needed my cruise rescheduled THREE TIMES, she made it happen instantly and made sure all obc, fcc, etc. transferred over with ease. Whenever I have a question, I give her a quick call and she gets back right away. Wait times are NOTHING compared to the main line. People on Facebook are waiting on the phone for 4-5 hours. I just leave a voicemail, and my PVP calls back later greeting me by name.

outdoors27 Posted January 11, 2022 #19 Share Posted January 11, 2022 We've had the same PVP for a little over 20 years and she's great. I usually find the cruise and the cabins I want, but then go through her to book. She went above and beyond when my cruises were being canceled due to the shut down and helping me re-book. She always made sure OBC OBC was following us and making sure we were getting the proper credit. The most recent example was on my upcoming summer sailing on the Panorama. When booking I had $1300 OBC and was very happy with that. About an hour later she called me back and told me that she had found an additional $600 OBC under my wife's name that we had not used. She was then able to add that to my Panorama sailing giving me $1900.00 total. Needless to say, I'm very happy.
jsglow Posted January 11, 2022 #20 Share Posted January 11, 2022 Again, I have to wonder if some of us have the same PVP in common. So many of them were furloughed during the shut down but the 'old guard' is still there. New ones are clearly being hired since the restart. We had briefly been assigned one on Princess but she went the way of our 2020 cruises over there!
my kids mama Posted January 11, 2022 #21 Share Posted January 11, 2022 I am not allowed to refer you to my PVP. I can say this. I own a bakery in Denver, Colorado. We make a pretty famous lemon mint white chocolate bread. If you google it, you can find us. If you put in your email address, I can answer any questions you have. Djptcp Posted January 11, 2022 #24 Share Posted January 11, 2022 On the Carnival home page under Plan you can request a PVP and you should be contacted on the next business day. We have cruised 41 times on Carnival and never used a PVP until this week. I cancelled our Jan. 16th cruise due to Omicron concerns and needed help sorting out what would be returned to me and what would go to a new booking (FCC and OBC). I received an email yesterday (next business day after my request) and by this morning it was all sorted out and I had a new Premier cruise booked for May. I was very pleased with my first PVP experience with Carnival - sorry I can't give you his name. I always use one on Holland America as I need to in order to book great casino rates.
