JOY FAMILY SUITE

We have booked one of the inside 2 bedroom family suites for our upcoming Joy cruise.  For anyone who has sailed in one of these cabins, does it include a butler and concierge service?  In reading these boards, I was understanding that this service was not included.  Today I noticed when you select this cabin it listed those perks.  It is under the Features & Highlights when you pick this cabin type when you select it in the booking sections.  I know that it is not a Haven cabin.

Yes, that is exactly what it says:  

Features & highlights

Convenient mid-ship location, some sleep up to five or six. 24-Hour Butler, Concierge Service and personal escort on and off the ship.

 

I wonder if this also includes dedicated breakfast and lunch like the other Suites on ships where there is a Haven but you are not in the Haven, like the Jade.

OK, I believe your Cabin Code is either a SP or an SC.  I is also on the NCL Joy.  I am attaching the "Joy Amenities document" to this reply.  It shows every category on the Joy and what it provides.  It is a very large Excel looking sheet.

 

It will answer all of your questions.  Have a safe and happy cruise.

I read that the SP suites get breakfast and lunch in the Italian restaurant.  I just called NCL and the agent told me that it does have a butler.  I am not sure if this is true or not, but I hope that someone who has really sailed in one of these suites can let me know.  Thank you for letting me know that you read the same thing I read and my eyes were lying to me.

That document is dated 6/9/21.   it is possible that it is out dated.   Things change everyday.  It does state that a butler and concierge are included on the web site.  If that is not true they should remove it.

OK, the document was sent to me about a month ago.  Also sent was the Haven Welcome Letter.  It was sent directly from NCL.  Not from a Travel Agent.  I am on the Joy on the November 27, 2021 sailing.

 

I fully understand how you feel with your comment about the document date.  It is the same way we all feel when the right hand (NCL ONline) and the left hand (NCL document sent out) don't match. 

 

My reason for providing it was to assist with the question asked.  It seems that this same question was answer by someone that was in the SP suite as well.  Past this, I recommend that the Author call NCL.  

 

We all have to remember, this is social media.  We are really not the ultimate decision makers.  That, I am afraid is NCL.  Every thing they do is in their own words, "Subject to Change".  I was just attempting to be helpful with the information provide.

I agree that you can get different answers to the same question.  I did call NCL and the agent told me that a butler and concierge were included.  Could you provide the name of the department you got the list from?  I would love to call them to find out what is correct.

IMO, having cruised on the Joy, it's unlikely that the SP staterooms will have Butler service, however, things are changing so who knows. 

 

Totally agree, things change depending on who you speak with.  Good luck and hope things work out well.

it is my understanding, that in both category cabins labeled as "suites" or haven suites the butler and concierge services are included. i have booked a 2 bedroom haven suite on the jade for april round trip from athens and although  there is no dedicated haven restaurant or bar, either cagneys or moderno are set aside for haven guests for breakfast and lunch.  we are booked on the gem in august and the only extra on the haven is the courtyard pool area. the price for the 2 bedroom "suite" not in the haven complex was $2000 less. other amenities, butler, concierge, dedicated breakfast and lunch are the same as in the haven.

 

finally we are booked in a 2 bedroom on the star next nov. there is no haven complex on the star, but the goodies remain the same as if there was a haven.

 

we are also onthe epic this coming january that has all the goodies that comes with a haven suite.

 

one of my really good friends is sailing with us and taking the smaller bedroom, but i raved to her about the amenities in the haven

Were you successful in obtaining clarification?   I noticed they changed the amenities when booking now.  Then I called and was  told the butler and concierge was included along with the breakfast and lunch at LaCucina.   Then I did an online chat and was told the complete opposite.  Very frustrating.

I have been told by Pre-concierge one thing and 5 agents telling me something else.  I wrote a letter to corporate and did not hear anything.  I am angry about the lack of consistency in communication.  This morning all that info was still on the website ,but at 2:00pm they changed it.  I could not get in my account at 2;00 but was able to later.  All of it changed.  I was told that. the only thing that is included was on the website now.  I was mad at that answer because after all we booked it cabin for the amenities.  I called the customer service line and the agent told me to email post-cruise customer service.  I did that tonight.  What really burns me is I wrote the letter to corporate before our final payment and they did not answer my letter.  They must have filed it in the trash.  Anyway, I told them that it was not ethical to change the terms after people booked.  At least they could have given me the courtesy of an answer.  We are past final payment now and I quess everyone who has booked is SOL.  I think that all those who has cruised this week and last are letting them know.  I gave them a heads up.  The amenities with this cabin are not even on par with Club Balcony suites.  At least they get some treats in the evening, laundry and some free room service.

looking at Celebrity and MSC for that same week so I have some options.   Really disappointed that they can do this.    When is your sailing?

I called the number listed under Guest Relations - before you cruise and she did not help except to tell me that they changed the website the same day.  She was not a lot of help, but she did direct me to the form.  
 

I firmly wrote that I expected a call or email this time.  We will see, but I am going to be persistent.  I will post if and when I hear something.

Thank you.   I am going to be very persistent too and will keep you updated as well.   I believe everyone who booked this category would be angry also; however, I also believe the majority of cruisers will not know until they get on board.
