Yes, thank you for update.  Can't blame them, a covid outbreak on those small islands would be devastating for them at best.

They do have COVID there and no tourist money means fewer ways to pay for health care

Any covid on the islands didn't swim there. They need to stop importing disease, including new variants.  In most of December, St Kitts and Nevis averaged 1 new case a week - then came Christmas and spreading. Look at what the tourist money caused.

That's a fireball comment in itself when it's related to cruising.

All ports have covid thresholds, reportedly if 1% are infected (includes crew and pax), ports will deny letting people off the port.  While the rumor mill is running wild that cruiselines are under reporting infections for this reason, RCL has found a creative solution.  They make the crew that test positive get off at a port only to be later picked up by a passenger-less ship that dedicated to quarantining crew members who test positive.

By law, cruise lines have to report cases to the CDC.

If RCL is doing that, the crew still has to be replaced, and they should run into quarantine restrictions when adding crew back to a ship.

You'd hope that cruise lines would always follow the law but this hasn't been the case

We are still having a good time on the freedom. They said we may stop at another port tomorrow or Saturday, but we shall see. So many passengers in the theatre without masks, the pools packed, no wonder people are leaving sick. The cruise line is doing what they can, but it takes cooperation from passengers too to mask up.

What law is that? Captains at sea? US of A. Foreign Ports.  Are they reporting each case? Or is it probable to report each case.

Go read the CDC guidance...cruise ships leaving FLORIDA are opting in,they are NOT mandated. Thank DeSantis for that one

That is true, but they are really under a microscope now

CDC reporting is only for ships in US waters. Doesn't count if the plague ship stays out of US waters, that's how RCL is getting away with dumping positive crew onto quarantine ships

According to the celerity Instagrams, Nevis is a favorite for rich celebrities  who frequent fancy homes, staffed with locals.  Betcha that is greater source than cruisers who have limited contact.

They were fined $40M in 2016 for the "magic pipe" illegal dumping, the only reason they were caught (they had been falsifying documents) was because of a whistle blower.  Despite that fine and being on probation they continued to falsify documentation and got caught again for illegal dumping and were fined an addition $20M in 2019.  Makes you wonder what else they've been doing.

Various reports from the crew, when ship officers are announcing to passenger there are only 0-10 people who tested positive, the crew is claiming they personally know for more crew members alone who positive.

§ 71.21 Report of death or illness.

(a) The master of a ship destined for a U.S. port shall report immediately to the quarantine station at or nearest the port at which the ship will arrive, the occurrence, on board, of any death or any ill person among passengers or crew (including those who have disembarked or have been removed) during the 15-day period preceding the date of expected arrival or during the period since departure from a U.S. port (whichever period of time is shorter).

Strange way of wording for this law 😶
