Valentina84 Posted March 13, 2022 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2022 Just serious devastation here going on. At the airport trying to find a flight with 2 kids to Miami. Nothing at all was available or they were thousands of dollars. What will happen to the cruise if so many will miss their flights due to yesterdays snow? Will they wait? Delay by a day? What a messsssss

TrinaLC Posted March 13, 2022 #3 Share Posted March 13, 2022 No they won’t delay a day. I’ve never seen it happen but I could envision a delay of some hours waiting for flights booked through MSC. Good luck!
Gatrcruzer Posted March 13, 2022 #4 Share Posted March 13, 2022 I am so sorry to hear about this! Contact the cruise line to see what your options are. They will not wait, but it might be possible for you to catch up and join at a later port if you can get there on time. Fingers crossed that you are able to salvage your vacation. JT1962 Posted March 13, 2022 #5 Share Posted March 13, 2022 If you booked flights through the cruise line (not sure MSC even does this) they will wait on you or get you to the ship at the next available port. If the first stop is Ocean Cay, it’s possible they can return to Miami to pick up those that missed the ship. For those planning future cruises, Issues like this are why it is always good to arrive 1-2 days before the cruise leaves and have a good travel insurance policy. Most of the time it is not an issue, but it can and does happen.

Let's please not put that out there as a possibility. If you miss your flight that you independently booked please let the cruise line know that you will not be coming. The ship is sailing according to plan. Your cruise insurance might help, if you have it. The ship is not waiting on your or others because of weather. As indicted, if you booked through the Cruise line's air division they might hold the ship for a few hours, otherwise they will re-route you to the next port of call. The same thing as if your bags didn't make it.
Rare Essiesmom Posted March 13, 2022 #7 Share Posted March 13, 2022 Do not give them hope that they can get on at the next port. Cruise lines are no longer doing that as the entire voyage is no longer closed loop. There is a lot more paperwork involved. You have to get permission from the cruise line and they are reluctant to give it. When you see bad weather coming, you have a choice to leave earlier, or roll the dice and keep your original plans. If anyone tried to fly into or out of Florida yesterday, there would be flight cancellations and delays as the storm system that has crossed the country entered Florida yesterday morning (west coast) and swept eastwards with high winds (gusts up to 80 mph), heavy thunderstorms and tornados

Another reason to have a good travel insurance policy.
