dorts Posted March 14, 2022 #1 Share Posted March 14, 2022 In recent reviews for Brilliance some people mention an imminent drydock coming up? I see there are no sailing in April for Brilliance and the transatlantic crossing to Europe is cancelled before she starts her European season. Anyone have any insider info and what this drydock may entail?

coaster Posted March 15, 2022 #4 Share Posted March 15, 2022 (edited) The Radiance and Vision class won't get much love. The faded artwork in cabin hallways and broken drawers on Rhapsody really put it in perspective for me. Serenade might get some love before the World cruise, but Royal is not putting any significant amount of money in their older ships. Empress was an exception, but it was a Cuba ship that commanded higher fares. Royal is more focused on the next largest cruise ship in the World, and the older ships just are being ignored investment wise. Not a Carnival fan, but they really spend a decent amount of money on their older ships, even though some have or are going to be scrapped Fantasy class wise. New carpets are all you can expect on the hotel side. Maintenance below deck that you don't see to keep the ship still operating during her older years will take place. I didn't see much changed in the cabins. They spent lots on other places, like the galleys.

leaveitallbehind Posted March 31, 2022 #7 Share Posted March 31, 2022 Brilliance has already been revitalized in 2013. There were further minor upgrades in 2018. This drydock, as mentioned by @twangster is likely a scheduled maintenance drydock with little further enhancements expected.
FamilyCruiserUK Posted April 1, 2022 #8 Share Posted April 1, 2022 (edited) Quick question does Brilliance have the free style coke machines on board? Or anywhere to get the milkshakes? Edited April 1, 2022 by FamilyCruiserUK

Beaufortscale8 Posted April 2 #10 Share Posted April 2 Was Recently on the Serenade of the seas, we instantly fell in love with the Radiance class, What Beautiful ships, and she shined as if a few years old, incredible crew, best layout ever, was a sold out New England cruise, yet, it was never crowded! Just got off the NCL Getaway, worst cruise ever, couldn’t find a bar stool half the time, couldn’t get into the venues, needed a reservation for everything, even MDR, you received a beeper, and got a 40 minute wait, we will never go on a Breakaway class ship again, and will be trying to catch these smaller ships while we still can, shine on Radiance class, truely classy ships

sfaaa Posted April 3 #13 Share Posted April 3 Older and smaller ships usually have lower cruise prices. Works for me.

JuliaMS Posted April 22 #15 Share Posted April 22 Brilliance arrives in New Orleans April 10 2025 then there is a 2 day gap before she leaves Miami for the TA on April 12 2025. Seems too short of any kind of service and 2 night NOLA to Miami would be an odd charter. Any ideas? She goes to a two week dry dock immediately following the TA.
