Just emailed my request and not even 10 min later got this response.

Will try and fax my request in a few days.

"

Good day,

This Email is sent to inform you that we have received your shareholder benefit request.

We're sorry the benefit cannot be combined with the other promotions on your booking, specifically the casino offer.

Best regards,

I think they started denying OBC requests around the beginning of the year, or earlier, since I remember cancelling cruises and demanding a refund because of protocols, when it was mainly because that without the OBC, I was getting better fares on Princess, with granted OBC and military OBC. I suspect that omicron cancellations caused them to try to recoup losses by denying OBC, instead of rewarding loyalty to their corporation. With omicron risks fading, occupancy shooting up, and more ships in service, I think that perhaps they decided to go back to not trying to nitpick over the wording, especially since the other Carnival brands approve it regardless of fare (I got it for a $60 4-nt Princess coastal cruise last week). It would be nice to get the dividend reinstated, though, which was at 10% or so before shutdown.

Makes no sense at all. Do you know if the same employee handled both requests?

Yes - both handled by same person.

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING YOUR SHAREHOLDER ON BOARD CREDIT

Thank you for providing us with the required documentation in order to process your shareholder on board credit.  Credit in the amount of $100.00  has been applied to your reservation and will be posted on your sail and sign account.  Please note this will not appear on your cruise manager however it will reflect on your revised guest confirmation listed under the Itemized Charges as On Board Credits.

We value your business and hope that you will enjoy a fun and memorable cruise with us.

Thank you for choosing Carnival.

Sincerely,

Erica Walden

Second email :
Thank you for submitting your shareholder brokerage statement.

Regrettably, we are unable to process your request to apply the shareholder benefit with the referenced reservation.

In accordance with the terms of the shareholder onboard credit benefit, reservations with a reduced rate promotion do not qualify for the onboard credit. While it may have been inadvertently accepted in the past, we are now adhering to the conditions of the shareholder program.  We sincerely apologize for any disappointment this has caused and trust, that as a Carnival investor, you will understand our position in this matter.

Thank you for your continued support.  We look forward to welcoming you on board!

Thank you for choosing Carnival.

Do you think the approval vs denial has anything to do with how much you paid for your shares? Like maybe those of us who got them deeply discounted in March/April 2020 they are denying vs those who are upside down they approve?

I doubt that. How would you explain a recent post where the same person using the same rate had one accepted and one denied? And what about those who have reported being denied and then accepted when resubmitting?

I was denied in December but then approved in March, both on heavily discounted rates.  We have a casino rate booked for June, though not nearly as discounted as the previous two, and I was just approved after a little more than two weeks.  Oddly, I got an email today that said a .jpg wasn't good enough and I needed to re-submit in .pdf.  I did so and within minutes was approved.  I sent a .jpg in March and it was fine.

So I guess my contribution is...  Who the heck knows.

I don't think so. I purchased my shares (currently 2305) when Carnival went public in the early 90s. Paid $1.05 per share.

I have NEVER been denied my shareholder benefit from any of the cruise-lines under the Carnival umbrella. And I have cruised as recently as last week.

Thanks,

Fred.

I'm sure between OBC and when they paid dividends, you have done very well for yourself with that purchase.

I have submitted request for 3 cruises this year. All have been approved. One was approved and applied during the cruise. I just submitted my 4th request via mail about 2 weeks ago. Have not heard back. Submitted again via email and got a response saying that's were receiving unusually large number of request and would respond soon. I have also submitted about 15 request over the last 10 years and have never been denied the credit.

Still waiting on three requests here...including on a request that I submitted the same day that I posted this question. Sigh.  Next cruise is in about 3 weeks. If I get denied for a fourth time when so many are being approved despite almost free cruises, I am going to be so stinkin' mad.

How long does it take to hear back?  I am pretty new to this game.  (That being said, CCL stock is very very low and a great value right now...it's going to go back up up up!!)

I submitted my first one, just 3 days before our cruise and it appeared on our final bill!!

I submitted one for our next cruise (May 8 ) last friday and I have not heard back yet.

Where are Carnival Web site do you see if OBC has been applied ? We have not sailed Carnival for years .

Log in - go to your cruise - click on  booking and order details - then click view balance details.  Scroll down a bit and it should be there.

1st time cruiser on Carnival. May I ask for the email address to send in for credit please. I have cruised Princess in the past and we had a form to fill out and fax in, they would not accept email. Is there a Carnival form or just write info in email?

No form, at least three weeks in advance if possible send an email to shareholders@carnival.com. Include your name, booking number, sailing date, ship name, and a copy of your documents showing the shares you own.

Post #7 on this thread shows a good example of the information to include.
