arubaaruba Posted May 10, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 10, 2022 We will be sailing in the Owners Suite on the Onward. I am looking for any tips on what to expect. I am looking forward to the specialty dining and the verandah mostly. Anything else I should be looking forward to that may not be listed on the website? laurieb Posted May 11, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 11, 2022 You’ll have complimentary access to the thelassotherapy pool and deck. You’ll have front row seating for any shows and performances. Your butler will set up wonderful food if you do any entertaining in your suite.

excitedofharpenden Posted May 11, 2022 #4 Share Posted May 11, 2022 Not sure when you are going as Covid protocols have had some effect. In normal times you will be invited to an exclusive welcome event with drinks and canapés and have a chance to meet some of the senior crew. If they are running the Azamazing Evening then you will meet up for drinks in the Cabaret Lounge beforehand and be escorted off the ship and onto the first bus with reserved seating at the event. You will also be first to go back to the ship. Nice if you want to get a seat at the Sunset Verandah for food. If you want dinner in your room or on your balcony, if you speak to the speciality restaurant maitre d' and let them know you are in a CW you should be able to have it from Aqualina or Prime C. This is a really nice thing to do, only available to the big suites. It's up in the air as far as Best of the Best meal on Onward as it has historically been held in the Library which has now been converted to a bar. I hope they can still accommodate this private dinner for the big suites and do it in a subtle way. It's a really special dinner. Enjoy the space. Not sure what deck you are on. The balconies get deeper as you go down. Deck 6 is the biggest and my preferred. Deck 7 slightly shallower and deck 8 shallower still. Phil On Onward there’s two chefs tables one in Prime C the other in Aqualina, there’s also a screened area at the aft of Aqualina that may be suitable. Remains to be seen as Covid protocols still prohibit hosted tables. Big suites had a get together in the Atlas bar with special cocktails this cruise.

I have seen tables held right in the front on deck for the Destination evening and for White Night for top suites. I thought this had been going on for a long time, am I wrong?
Kimbasmum Posted May 11, 2022 #8 Share Posted May 11, 2022 The Owners Suite which we had recently was on deck 7 forward. The anchor going down most mornings was a wake-up call. On the whole, we enjoyed the extra space, including big balcony. The sofa was a challenge, definitely lacking in cushions on the back. We usually have breakfast in-suite but we could have had it in Aqualin as I think all other suites can. We had course by course dinner for us and friends once in the suite but could only choose from Discoveries menu. We did get an invitation to have cocktails with other ‘top suite guests’ but as we were travelling with friends and 5.30 is early for us, we did not do that, nor did we get any special invites or ‘front row seats’. We enjoyed it, but are not ‘spoilt’ for our next cruise - we will be happy in a Veranda or Club Continent.
excitedofharpenden Posted May 11, 2022 #9 Share Posted May 11, 2022 That's an Ocean Suite that is forward and both the cabins and balcony are smaller. Yes, The anchor and movement if the sea is rough can be a challenge. Phil

I would prefer to be 7 just to have people vs. Venue above and below but I think it will be just fine on 6. My husband is a chef so I hope we are able to have the Best of the Best dinner, that would be very nice.
arubaaruba Posted May 12, 2022 Author #14 Share Posted May 12, 2022 Thank you all for replying. We are looking forward to our first sailing with Azamara. We honestly are not big on shows, we prefer to spend our evening out on deck and winding down the day with a glass of wine. We will be sure to let the butler know that reserving seats will not be necessary for us with the exception of the Azamazing Event. I do think the Chef’s Table would be a highlight for us so I do hope that is an option on our sailing.

Riocca Posted May 12, 2022 #16 Share Posted May 12, 2022 I believe the AzAmazing evening was a one off for Onwards maiden given that the venue was in walking distance and open air. Covid dependant they may recommence later in the year possibly September.

Yes it was for the AzAmazing Evening that we were invited for drinks before the show and then escorted to seats. We did not have saved front row seats at any other time or for White Nights. We were on an April sailing of Quest. I was disappointed that were wasn’t a Best of the Best dinner or something comparable. There was a big suite morning get together the day after we boarded. I wouldn’t describe it as all that “special”. We did enjoy having shrimp cocktail delivered daily in the afternoons and our butler would ask us what time we’d be back in the cabin to time the delivery. Like Kimbasmum - we enjoyed the extra space and balcony but I would not describe it as an over the top experience. I think a Club Continent suite would be my choice given the huge difference in price and the real benefit is just a bigger cabin.
