This wasn't meant in any way as a swipe at you. In fact, I thank you for bringing this to light. Right? Captain Matt made daily announcements over the ship's intercom. This info should have been included in those announcements and not at theater shows that only a small percentage of the passengers attend. In any event, I feel pretty lucky I was never contact traced and all of the people I did sharing tables with throughout the cruise were still free to walk about the ship on Day 6, as I saw them all at some point the last day.
Rare KKB Posted June 5, 2022 #202 Share Posted June 5, 2022 @JamieLogicalThanks again for a GREAT TR. I am sailing my first solo cruise this summer--one in July & 1 in Aug. In some ways you inspired me to do it! Got fantastic deals & had some SWA credit to use up (and we have companion pass so it had to be just ME flying). DH prefers to miss no more than a week of golf league each summer. OK--then I'm going without you! I like the idea of requesting a table share--then you can meet again if you want, or not. (Most times in past we loved our table mates but had a couple we had no desire to eat with again!)

DH retired last year. We are blessed to be able to retire young (DH did at 58, me at 56) & we intend to take FULL advantage of that! Viking world cruise is my bucket list too. But I think I need to ease DH into it. 10 days this Nov., 2 wks in Jan....looking to a 30ish S Pacific cruise for our next push... Cabin fever? I pretty much only sleep & shower there... Congrats on retirement!!! I think you will adjust nicely.. Hope all is well with the family. mac_tlc
BoundForSea Posted June 6, 2022 #204 Share Posted June 6, 2022 Glad to see the big yellow chair is still luring you in like the sirens on the shore!! 😂 No big yellow chair for me until Thanksgiving, ngl having a little withdrawal. Take good care Jamie!

It's a wonderful addiction--and I love the planning & anticipation almost as much as the travel. We were going to do Europe this summer/ fall but Baltics got cancelled & we just didn't feel being overseas for nearly 3 weeks if prudent right now with Dad. So we will stick to N. America area. I continue to look at your cruises & what might fit with our schedule! Thanks for thinking of us!

I’m trying to squeeze in another 2022 after we cancelled our TA in November. We didn’t feel comfortable flying to Rome and departing from there. Our 2023 s pretty full at this point, especially with Edge Rome-Dubai-Singapore. I’m eyeing the 4/13/24 Apex, and doing a B2B with the TA, when it is announced. mac_tlc
Rare killsport Posted June 6, 2022 #207 Share Posted June 6, 2022 @JamieLogical Could you comment on the "speed" in the MDR when you had Anytime Dining? Wondering if the meal time is about 90 minutes like normal, or if it is now stretched past two hours due to lower staff counts? Not looking for fast food, but don't want to spend most of my cruise in the dining room. Wait, what am I saying... of COURSE I want to spend more timing the dining room 😋 TIA! We've done shared tables in the past but didn't on this cruise. Due to being shared it typically takes longer because they want to bring out say 6 apps at the same time and everyone will need to wait if one person at a shared table says they need extra time. On this sailing, Select/Anytime dining on a two top, it was repeatedly about an hour. You can ask for a rushed service which may serve things out of order as they simply bring out whatever is ready, did that in the past and can have all the food down on the table within ten minutes (app came last).

I really can't comment, because every dinner I had at a sharing table, we took our sweet sweet time. I never felt like I was waiting too long for food (sometimes waited a while for drinks), because I was having such pleasant conversations that I didn't pay attention. None of my tablemates complained about slow service either. 3
ann1bell Posted June 6, 2022 #210 Share Posted June 6, 2022 Jamie, I enjoy your reports and have a question. You mentioned you read a book titled Dead Certain. Who was the author? I would like to read it. I see there is one by Mariah Stewart and one by Adam Mitzner. Thanks.
timf264 Posted June 7, 2022 #211 Share Posted June 7, 2022 I was on the Equinox in April and masks were required in the casino. Is this still the case?

Yes along with the theater yet it's only really enforced at the casino tables. Didn't notice any enforcement of those not wearing masks at the theater (day or night), walking through the casino or even sitting at a casino slot machine. Rare JamieLogical Posted June 7, 2022 Author #214 Share Posted June 7, 2022 I have a sad update to my blog. I tested positive for COVID this morning. I had my first symptom late Sunday night and woke up early Monday morning with a fever. Initial at-home test was negative and I took a PCR test around noon yesterday, but haven't received the results yet. Home test this morning was positive. I was pretty miserable yesterday, but feel a lot better today now that my fever has broken. Just a cough and some fatigue now. Since my first symptom (a ticklish throat) happened on Sunday night, I could only have gotten it onboard the ship. My flights home on Saturday were to recent for me to have gotten symptoms by Sunday night. I just hope I didn't spread any COVID while onboard. I would hate to think I infected any of my lovely tablemates or friends from the bars. Also hoping I didn't infect my husband, since I did spend all evening with him Saturday, all day and night Sunday, and didn't start isolating from him until yesterday morning. We are wearing masks if we have to be in the same room, trying to stay in separate rooms as much as possible, and keeping all windows open. 3

Rare abbydancer2003 Posted June 7, 2022 #219 Share Posted June 7, 2022 (edited) When I had it we ate and slept separately and wore masks when we need to be in the same room. DH tested every day for a week and then a few days later after I tested negative. He was still negative. Maybe this is useful. The worry I have is that I gave it to him before I even had symptoms. With Omicron, you are most contagious the day or two before symptoms start and I spent a lot of time with my husband those two days.

It is a traditional mojito, except you substitute Kraken (or other dark rum) for Bacardi or whatever light rum you would usually use and you substitute ginger beer for the club soda.
