BUtaxMan Posted June 27, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 27, 2022 Headed to my first Princess Cruise and my first cruise in a number of years (even before COVID). What are the current table minimums for Blackjack & Craps in the Ship Casino? Any tips from the casino pros? I always enjoy the casino, but want to be sure I have the tips for Princess as all the lines are a little different.
highloyo Posted June 27, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 27, 2022 The table minimum for craps was $5 on the Majestic (March ‘22) and Discovery (April ‘22). I don’t play blackjack but I believe the minimum was $10 as was other table games.
Ace_Caliente Posted June 27, 2022 #3 Share Posted June 27, 2022 Have there been any match plays or other promos on recent cruises?
Papa Yoda Posted June 27, 2022 #4 Share Posted June 27, 2022 (edited) $6 on black jack and Fun 21 $6 on your spot or $5 on the spot and $1 on the bonus bet I won't play blackjack since they only pay 6 for 5 for a bj and have a continuous shoe. So it's Fun 21 or wait for a $25 table with decent rules to open. Edited June 27, 2022 by Papa Yoda
symui Posted June 27, 2022 #5 Share Posted June 27, 2022 $5 dollar minimum on Baccarat, Craps and Roulette on my last 4 cruises on the Ruby since the restart. Craps table usually opens a 8pm on sea day which surprised me as I though it would be open in the day as well. Same with Baccarat most of the time although on two cruises there we lots of players and they asked for the table to be opened during the day and casino obliged. I didn't play Blackjack and the variants but those tables usually opened as soon as the casino officially opened and a Roulette table usually opened shortly thereafter. Mike45LC Posted June 28, 2022 #7 Share Posted June 28, 2022 CASINO: This is my survey of the casino table games. I started with a $25 blackjack table and went around counter-clockwise. Blackjack $25 minimum pays 3 to 2; dealer must hit soft 17. You can double down after split. Baccarat five dollar minimum. Heads up hold ‘em (whatever that is) is five dollar minimum. Fun 21 (which is an abomination), I did not note the minimum. Next they have six dollar minimum blackjack, 6 to 5 payout. Continuous shuffle. Two tables of roulette. Three card prime, let it ride, another 6-5 blackjack six dollar minimum. Then we have another game of three card prime. Another blackjack. This one is 3 to 2 with a $15 minimum, but still a continuous shuffle machine. That brings us to Craps. Field pays double/ double. they have a big six big eight space and they have all/small/tall bonus paying 150 to one and 30 to 1. They have electronic roulette, two games and electronic blackjack, two games. The roulette is not a bank of machine surrounding a physical wheel but is all computerized. All of the card games are CSM. Spacing is so crowded for slots!!! In order to get to the innermost machine, we had to ask a lady to get up and pull her chair out to squeeze through and then we let the lady back into her machine! Horrible!! Craps tables are often closed. This is not a Covid-staffing issue, but was pre-Covid as well. 3

I am always impressed when someone has such in depth knowledge and is willing to take the time to bang it out on the keyboard. I didn’t understand 75% of it. But I am impressed nevertheless and thank you for the contribution!
Mike45LC Posted June 28, 2022 #9 Share Posted June 28, 2022 Jimmy, I always take a survey of the table games on my first night on board, dictate it into my phone, and later incorporate it into my personal trip report. I guess a non-gamer would not understand parts. Like 3-2 vs 6-5 pay-outs for Blackjack. When you get dealt a "natural" (also called a "blackjack"), an ace and a ten (and the dealer does not have a natural him/herself, you should get paid $3 for every $2 you had bet. So a $100 bet would pay $150. In recent years, casinos have started to pay only $120 instead of $150 on this, which is a pay ratio of 6 to 5. Thus, the payouts are called 3:2 and 6:5 respectively. Although you are dealt a "natural" or a "blackjack" very rarely, over time this affects your overall odds of winning at Blackjack. In Craps there is a bet called "the Field." In the old days, if the roller rolls a 2 or a 12, the Field payoff would be 2 or 3 (respectively) times the Field bet. All other Field numbers would pay even money. Now, many "tight" casinos pay only double the bet for both the 2 and the 12. So as a craps player, I always note if the table pays twice the bet on 2 and 12 or double on 2 and triple on 12. I use a shorthand because an experienced gambler knows the jargon. And many of us love to talk about gaming and are happy to explain! If I run into you on board, I'll be happy to coach you on Craps and on Basic Strategy at Blackjack! 6

Mike45LC Posted June 28, 2022 #11 Share Posted June 28, 2022 VOL, perhaps that guy who blames others' play needs to realize that just as many "wrong" players save the table as kill the table. I have seen plenty of people who hit against a "busting card" and take the card that would have given the dealer a winning hand, and who cause the dealer to bust instead. I track the play, but I don't criticize the other players. I might change tables, though -- I blame the cards, not the other players. 4

rideev Posted June 29, 2022 #13 Share Posted June 29, 2022 The best luck I ever had at a craps table was in downtown Vegas being the same bets as a local that just wanted to make $100 every day.

Daddysbaby Posted June 29, 2022 #15 Share Posted June 29, 2022 Hi Mike. When was the last time that you saw a Let It Ride table on a Princess ship? I was on the Sky 2 1/2 years ago and they did not have a LIR table. It seems to be disappearing from many land based casinos. I will be on the Royal and Regal later this year and will keep my fingers crossed that it is still around.....😍 Sheila

Best luck I have had at a craps table was when this elderly woman made 23 straight passes. When she finally crapped out, the entire table, including dealers, gave her a round of applause. Amateur playing third base, because he/she read "some" book, or these days, viewed some "YouTube video". Learning to read the table is the part that he/she probably didn't/couldn't learn. The rest of it is mechanical, realistically it doesn't even matter if all of the cards (except the hole card) is dealt face-up. That being said, I do not play in cruise-ship casinos, nor at many of the low stakes Nevada gimmick tables.
