DaveOKC Posted July 30, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2022 I know this is a bit of a "first world" problem, but I have to ask it anyway. I just received our cabin assignment for a Neptune guarantee (I had to book a guarantee as it is a casino deal) and it is for a SA cabin located adjacent to one of the "outside" elevators. Since our cruise is still three weeks away and since there are at least 14 other SA cabins still showing as open on the website, I was wondering if it is possible to change my cabin assignment? Has anyone been successful in doing this given the guarantee booking? I am reaching out to my PCC, but she will not be in until Monday, so I thought I would seek some advice from the board beforehand. THANKS!
KAKcruiser Posted July 30, 2022 #2 Share Posted July 30, 2022 Does she have another PCC covering for her over the weekend? I don't see why they wouldn't change the cabin but you don't want to delay. You never know when the rest of the cabins might disappear.
DaveOKC Posted July 30, 2022 Author #3 Share Posted July 30, 2022 Hope someone can chime in with whether or not this is possible before I call, but it is a good idea.
DAllenTCY Posted July 30, 2022 #4 Share Posted July 30, 2022 (edited) My gut reaction is to say that booking a "guaranteed cabin" leaves one without options other than paying the same rate as you would have had if you selected a chosen stateroom with a higher price. The same might be said for asking for upgrades at the pier upon embarkation. Where is any advantage to the seller? David P.S. My brother and his wife had a room next to one of those elevators on the Oosterdam. So did my nephew and his companion. It never bothered them at all they told me. rocksteady27 Posted July 30, 2022 #5 Share Posted July 30, 2022 (edited) I had the same casino offer and was pleasantly surprised with my cabin assignment. Instead of the SB NS at the end of the hallway we had a room (SA) closer to the Neptune Lounge. Good luck and I hope you get the room you want! john2003 Posted July 30, 2022 #6 Share Posted July 30, 2022 I have only once had guarantee that disappointed me. In this case because people were getting better cabins for less than I had paid. I certainly knew they had no obligation to make a change but they did, albeit a small one.

Glad to hear that they did not have any noise issues - makes me less concerned. The only reason I booked the guarantee is that with the casino offer you really do not have a choice. Next time I use this I am booking a Signature Suite (which we are fine with) and watching for an upsell to a Neptune. That way it would allow me to pick our cabin (from the ones still open of course) and even save a few dollars.
mfanderso Posted July 30, 2022 #8 Share Posted July 30, 2022 Several years ago I booked a guarantee Signature Suite because that was the only thing available at the time. When my assignment was made, it was an accessible cabin. I contacted my TA to see if they could change us so she contacted HAL and we were able to get another cabin. Rare Mary229 Posted July 30, 2022 #9 Share Posted July 30, 2022 I think it would be deemed an upsell and you would be expected to pay. You might want to gamble they give you a better cabin when you board.

If I use my PCC she can try doing it for free.

Bad1987 Posted July 30, 2022 #12 Share Posted July 30, 2022 A few years back we had a verandah guarantee and were assigned a spa room which was a great upgrade from the base fare verandah. I called prepared with some room choices which I found available online. The agent I spoke with was fabulous...she ended up booking us a great aft cabin. Bottom line...it is possible. KAKcruiser Posted July 30, 2022 #13 Share Posted July 30, 2022 I really don't see why they would have a problem moving to you a different cabin in the same category. It certainly can't hurt to ask.
DaveOKC Posted August 1, 2022 Author #14 Share Posted August 1, 2022 Update - my HAL PCC was able to get me moved to the cabin I wanted (great location IMO)! Thought I had better get it done first thing this morning before the cabins were further allocation or upsold. Thanks to everyone for their advice and to my PCC for getting it handled quickly.
