Health Declaration Error

Hello all,

I'm booked for my first Cunard QM2 TA on August 5th.  I completed my health declaration online this morning (answering all the questions correctly - no to everything) and submitted it, and then got a message that I would be denied boarding and my voyage would be cancelled based on my responses.  Panic ensued.  I called Cunard (twice to make sure) and apparently this is a known issue which began occurring in the past couple of days where some passengers are receiving this message despite answering the health declaration questions correctly, and we are still advised to go to the port on embarkation day where we will undergo a secondary health screening.  Unfortunately Cunard won't provide anything in writing to me on this, and I have to fly across the US to get to the port, so I'm still a bit uneasy.  I've saved a screenshot of my completed health declaration that I will bring with me.  Has anyone else run into this issue?

Did they say what would happen if you where denied boarding after showing up in Brooklyn. Is your voyage still showing on the voyage personaliser? And what did they mean by seconary health screening did they say?

Can these forms be completed in person at the port? This has me worried now we will be completing ours soon.

I don't think the online health declaration can be completed at the port. Here is what "My Cunard" has to say about it.

"The declaration will be available to complete three days before sailing.

You will have two days to complete this, the questionnaire will close the day before you board."

I have not done that declaration, but from what I have been reading elsewhere, others that have encountered this issue appear to have missed the checkbox that @Yorkshire Mike mentioned. There are apparently four yes/no questions plus a checkbox that needs to be ticked which sounds like it could be easy to overlook.

I don't think it can be the insurance question, as US passengers don't have to have it.

I'd love to see the entire health declaration questionnaire, especially the one presented to US passengers. This topic has me concerned as well. As we know, Cunard IT isn't particularly savvy at times and I wonder if they just might be asking US passengers to confirm they have insurance anyway.

I have looked on google images and I cannot appear to find one.

I can confirm the wording of the first four health-related questions that were presented to a UK passenger.

1) Within 10 days of sailing, have you shown symptoms of a cough, fever, chills, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell, congested or runny nose, headache, muscle or body aches, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue/extreme tiredness?

2) Within 10 days of sailing on your cruise, have you lived in the same household or had close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19?

3) Within 10 days of sailing on your cruise, have you tested positive for COVID-19?

4) Do you have any medical conditions which mean you cannot sail with us - supplementary oxygen (including via a concentrator), mechanical ventilatory support (excepting CPAP for overnight sleep apnea), dialysis (including peritoneal)?

This is transcribed from a screenshot posted on social media. Unfortunately, the screenshot ended there, providing no indication of additional items the poster apparently missed, causing them to receive the notification that they were deemed unsafe to travel and would be denied boarding.

Oh No, not another Glitch ! You are the 5th person I have heard who has encountered this problem  when completing the online Health Questioner .

Four members on my Cunard social media group have run into the same problems 'in the last week or so' causing them undue stress and anxiety. I understand they finally managed to have things rectified with help of their Cruise Specialist  or contacting Cunard Line.

How wise to have saved the screenshot and thank goodness Cunard Line are owning up to another glitch.

Have a safe flight to the UK and wishing you a peaceful vacation .

Yes in total I talked to 3 customer reps who all said they had had other passengers call with the same problem, it is a known IT glitch they are investigating.  For US passengers it is only the 4 main questions, there is nothing about insurance and no other boxes to check which would cause the form to be rejected.  I asked one of the reps to send me in writing that the advice is for me still to go to the port, which they did. I have been assured that this the official recommendation from corporate and that my cruise will not be cancelled, but I’ll be sure to bring a copy of the email Cunard sent me.  I’ll give an update with what happens on Friday.

What did they mean by secondary health screening? Did they explain that?

I'll make a wild stab at guessing that it is when you are asked the same set of questions, at the time of boarding, to make sure your answers have not changed.

Which begs the question of why do the form at all? If your asking the question again why not just ask the question at boarding and be done with it?

I am a US passenger and there was indeed a box to tick in the lower left corner of my declaration when I completed it yesterday - it reads: "Check this box to complete your health declaration, and to confirm that all guests aged five years and over on your booking will undertake a covid-19 test in line with the testing requirements for this voyage."  You've got to scroll down to find the box, but there is no excuse for the system not telling you you haven't finished the form! I'll try to attach a screen shot here, edited to exclude our personal info.

Oh my goodness.  To be fair I did complete it on my phone and could see missing that little check box next to the big red submit button.  If that is what happened, the fault is ultimately my own but I am not pleased with whoever designed this page.

I have just completed a health declaration and noticed a subtlety in it.  Given the lack of thought in some of the website this may be accidental, but I wonder.   The health declaration is not about are you to fit to get on the ship.  It is about are you fit to come to the terminal.  This made sense when they were doing additional tests at the terminal, but I am not sure it adds anything now they are not.
