The Enchanted is currently sailing in the Mediterranean and is provisioning in Civitavecchia. Therefore wines will reflect the local suppliers offerings. There is still a global supply chain issue and many wines and liquors have also faced production issues due to the shutdown. The selection will most likely change when she returns to port Everglades in late November for her Caribbean season.

I guess I am missing your point.  The wine I mentioned comes from the Mediterranean (Provence) and is still on board and on the wines lists.  It just isn't being poured by the glass as it has been for the past 10 years.

And people are overplaying the "supply chain" issue.  Yes, supplies are limited for certain items.  But when it comes to wine, Carnival Corp is among the largest purchasers of wine in the world. Perhaps the largest.  It works with a wine distribution behemoth.  Even if there is a supply chain shortage you can rest assured that with its buying power and clout, Carnival will continue to get its wine.  It's not as if your local wine shop will get 6 bottles and Carnival will get shut out.  It is very much the other way around.

Never sailed Princess before so was interested to see how the medallion and ordering drinks worked in real life...

Each bar etc had a tablet computer which displayed the photos of anyone stood nearby (see attached photo).  The server would simply tap your photo to process your drinks order.  It looks like there were symbols next to each photo that showed if you have a drinks package or not.  Never got charged for any drinks whilst on board.  Found the whole ordering process extremely quick and efficient. (we had the plus package).  Never had to scan/swipe my medallion once for drinks.  Delivery to my table/area after ordering on the app was quite good too, although I did have two orders never arrive and I had to go to a bar to get them made.

I'm sorry that one of you has reported a virus problem - no idea how that has happened.  I've scanned the files myself and can't see any issue.  The majority of the PDFs are simply copies of the web-browser page that appears once a QR code is scanned - this has then been converted to PDF using the Dropbox app on my phone - the only potential thing that may bring up a 'threat' is that the PDF contains a hyperlink/URL back to the original page (which you can't access unless you are connected to the ship WiFi).

I can't answer the question regarding prices in Good Spirits - I've already uploaded the only menu I found in there.  I did 90% of my drink ordering in Take Five - outstanding service from Jeny.  If anyone is onboard soon and sees her, tell her 'Phil with the Jack and Coke says hi!'.

Our cruise started in Southampton and went to Norway and Iceland so I've no idea where the wine stocks came from.  I don't drink wine so the stock (or lack of) never bothered me.

Just curious.  When ordering drinks, do you inform the server that you have the Plus Package and should not be charged, or do you just tap in with the Medallion and expect that the system will get it right?  ( don't mean that in an accusatory manner as if you did anything wrong. I just don't know how to phrase it any differently.  I am wondering if the error rate decreases if one verbally announces that they should not be charged.  We shouldn't have to do that, but I will if it helps.)

I also inform IC that I traded my minibar for the coffee program after being charged for a pot of tea. Yes, it helps

Same with whites by the glass. The ship most likely is provisioning in Civitavecchia and has reliable supply of Italian wines as a result.

I'm going from Southampton up to Norway, around Ireland to a transatlantic so will look for a place to pick up 2 bottles Reisling / 1 Gewürztraminer in Southampton.  I've hopefully got 2 days there

Nope. Every server could plainly see on their tablet that we had the package. Even when the system hung up and they finally apologized and asked for our cabin number they had already been able to see on their device that we had the package. The only drinks we were charged for were from a venue we never (ever!) visit.

The files are virus free. The poster just has an "overzealous" AV program. It's not at all uncommon for AV software to flag pretty much any file downloaded from the Internet. I can understand the poster's hesitation to use the files and can even applaud their vigilance. Better to be "overly safe "than "extremely sorry". (I've had to fix multiple virus issues for people who just happily clicked on pretty much anything...)

Just ask at Crooners most of their bar staff know how to make the martinis that have long since vanished from the current menus - had great luck with  that on the Island in June!  Enjoy!

I hope you're right and you're all safe but I'm not going to risk it.  It was a big warning I've not seen before with any other PDFs.  Doesn't happen with all the PDFs Princess has sent me recently.

Depending on your anti virus program, you should find this issue on all attachments saved to the cruise critic servers.  For example, I know McAfee will warn you about all Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and PDFs saved to cruise critic.  Pictures such as jpg files that are displayed inline without having to download are ok, but I suspect all files that need to be downloaded will generate the warning.  I suspect the AV software does not like the location cruise critic is storing the files.

Hopefully if you choose to download one of these files, your AV software will scan the file and eliminate any real threats.  But if you don't trust the source, then the safe thing to do is not download the files.

Here is an example from McAfee.

It look like, from perusing the menus on another website, that Whispering Angel is served by the glass in the MDR @ $14 per glass. I wonder if the other bars would honor that menu option?  We have the plus package and it’s my understanding that you would only be charged the difference of $2 (?)

$2.36. You have to pay the 18% gratuity on the $2 overage.

Correct!  That was one of my Go-to wines in Vines on the Caribbean Princess!  I just paid the $2 difference by grat.

There were a few glitches on our last cruise when DH ordered an Irish Coffee and there was a $2+ charge. It is listed on the menu as being $8 so there should not have been any charge.  Just check your folio every once in a while.
Other than that...so issues and we didn't have to alert them to our package.

Sorry these links aren’t opening for me.  😕

For me the links download and then I need to open the downloaded PDF. Perhaps you did not notice the Download. If you are on Windows you can go to Documents and see Downloads, an easy way to go back and view files in the future.

Love that wine! It's only $20. bottle at my local liquor store. I'll stick with a cosmo and use up the nips in the cabin bar set up. Crazy since we also have the beverage package.

I didn't get an antivirus alert and all opened with no issues.  Not saying you should do it but just wanted you to know.
