cheeseheads4ever Posted September 10, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2022 I know this probably has been covered before and we have received an offer in the past for $100 OBC for opening a Celebrity credit card. Not enough OBC to do it for us but now we just received an offer for $300 OBC. My question is how do you receive it for a future cruise? I know you need to spend $1000 in the first 90 days. But how does that $300 get onto your cruise booking. Thank you in advance!
Rare cruisestitch Posted September 10, 2022 #2 Share Posted September 10, 2022 You can do it on line or by phone. OBC isnt the only option and some feel that it is a better use of the points to reduce the cost of the cruise fare rather than using them for oBC
Rare Fly and Sail Posted September 10, 2022 #3 Share Posted September 10, 2022 For $300 OBC it's probably worthwhile to open, get the offer and then throw the card in the drawer. They will award you points which you then apply to the upcoming cruise as OBC or just offset charges. Just don't continue using the card beyond the minimum spend requirement to get the bonus.
Rare cruisestitch Posted September 10, 2022 #4 Share Posted September 10, 2022 I use mine only for Celebrity/Royal purchases which have bonus points. Otherwise use other cards which offer different deals.
cheeseheads4ever Posted September 19, 2022 Author #5 Share Posted September 19, 2022 Thanks everyone. The card says I can use for purchases on Celebrity and Royal. What about paying for the cruise with it? I need to make final payment by October 4 so wouldn’t get the $300 in time and use it to pay on this cruise fare but have one in April I could use it on. Not sure how long it takes for points to appear. Thanks again.
WestLakeGirl Posted September 19, 2022 #6 Share Posted September 19, 2022 YEs you can pay for the cruise. You can use the card for anything (groceries, gas, etc) it’s just that you get extra points when you use it to pay for a cruise

cheeseheads4ever Posted September 19, 2022 Author #8 Share Posted September 19, 2022 Maybe I need to call but deal says I need to spend a $1000 in 90 days which is not a big deal. But if I spend $2500 on the cruise fair will I get 2 x the points? Says 2 x points on purchases with Celebrity and Royal but does cruise fair count? Rare NutsAboutGolf Posted September 20, 2022 #11 Share Posted September 20, 2022 If you get it, only benefit is the initial OBC. Costco card has no fee and offers 3% cashback on both travel and dining.

You could use it for the 4% fuel and 3% on travel (like celebrity) and restaurants. While everyone is different, for the vast majority of folks going on cruises, this is the best card by a mile for those who want high rewards without an annual fee and to receive cash back, not points. There are better no annual fee cards out there like chase unlimited that gives 3% on dining including take out, 3% on drug stores, 1.5% on everything else. Most people reading this probably cruise with celebrity so having a 3% travel card is something everyone should consider getting. In addition to the 3% back you'd receive on your cruise fare, your onboard spending are coded as travel so you'd again earn 3%. Lastly, you'd receive 3% on all hotels stays and airfare. cheeseheads4ever Posted February 16, 2023 Author #15 Share Posted February 16, 2023 Ok we pulled the trigger on the card paid for cruise. We redeemed the points to get the original $300 OBC. This was yesterday. So how long does it take to show up on my reservation and where does it appear? Thanks for any help.
ljk76 Posted February 16, 2023 #16 Share Posted February 16, 2023 Did you redeem the points on line or did you call Celebrity?
wrk2cruise Posted February 16, 2023 #17 Share Posted February 16, 2023 I would think they would show in your Cruise Planner when they are posted since they are non refundable Celebrity OBC.
cheeseheads4ever Posted February 17, 2023 Author #18 Share Posted February 17, 2023 My DW redeemed on line through Bank of America and celebrity redeem rewards. I believe she had to log into Celebrity rewards then to Bank of America.
volk904 Posted February 17, 2023 #19 Share Posted February 17, 2023 I applied for the card deal with the $ 300 CC. It is a credit card you can use it for anything. If you use it on Celebrity or Royal you more points. I just move my $300 to my upcoming cruise this week.
