Hello from Wonder of the Seas

We were in Civitavecchia today and got on Wonder at lunchtime.

got the bus from the station to the port.   We were the only ones on the bus!

very smooth getting on.   Lunch in Windjammer easy.   Plenty of room.

have not been on a ship where we have heard so many accents., except when

we did a cruise from South America to the med many years ago.

one good thing we have discovered you can book all the entertainment at a booth.
did not take long and we are booked up for the skating show, the nighttime shows, and the

Aqua show.   Very easy.

Is that a bus from Civitavecchia or Rome?

If they have a Captain’s corner, ask when they are coming to Oz.

The bus was from Civitavecchia.   I heard the train from Rome is very good but we had a car to pick us up.   After the flight from Melbourne via Bangkok to Paris and then on to Rome we were very tired.   Our flight was from Melbourne to Rome in 2020 when we booked originally .  Now Thai do not fly to Rome at this point.

but we made it and now have a cruise on this lovely ship.  It is Amazing.

won’t be doing any speciality restaurants though!   Unbelievable prices.   I will see how many people are in them.

Bon Voyage!  Friends of mine just flew economy from Sydney to Malta.  Took 40 hours!

Wow Wonder is the biggest ship in the world.  Have you made it to the 8 unique neighbourhoods yet?

How many passengers? How many official languages on board?  Good that it was easy to book all the entertainment. How long is the cruise and the itinerary? What a wonderful adventure!

Hi Marion,

the cruise is only 7 days from Rome to Barcelona and various ports and back to Rome.    We are having one day in Civitavecchia when we get off the boat and then on Odyssey to Israel and back to Rome.   Can’t go all this way for 7 days.

we have been told about 5000 odd passengers but I don’t think there is that many.   Went to a show tonight that we have to book for and only half full.   Absolutely marvellous show.   Such a production!   Not your 60s songs which I love, more for a younger audience,   You can’t blame them trying to get younger people on the ship.    This is the end of season so probably the reason why not full.

a lot of Spanish speaking and quite a few excursions for Spanish speaking.  A few Poms.    Met one women who said she got a package which included a flight for 95 people flying from Glasgow.   I bet it was a good deal.   Wish Aussies got that!

been to Central Park..,lovely..I think by the end we might find our way around!

Sounds wonderful. Just 7 neighbourhoods to go, Eileen.  You'll run out of days. Such a shame the theatre was only half full for the show. Did you recognise any of the songs?  Yes, it is off season now.  I discovered that when we visited Crete as all the tourists had gone home.  I found MSC had superb world class entertainment, which was not language based because of all the different nationalities on board.  Their Cirque du Soleil show was brilliant, as good as the real thing!

Will be interesting to compare ships

7 nights you wouldn’t see half of the ship.

Wonderland would be a thought ,if the price was right or just pop into the Wonderland bar . It supposed to be a real jaw dropper of a restaurant.

Sounds like this ship IS the destination!

The Oasis class is really good on a port day where you stay onboard.

I love those days where there’s nobody onboard.

For us here in Australia it’s not the right ship for a Mediterranean cruise where it’s port intensive. Everyday is a big day ,exploring ports and back to the ship to just crash.

Apparently you can’t book entertainment before boarding now.

As you said, you have go to a booking desk or do it via the app once onboard.

Was this the case ?

Hi Eileen

It sounds like a wonderful trip(s) you are doing!

I had a question that you might be able to answer?

You might not be doing one but I 'Wondered' if you might have seen some info on their excursions on board.

I was wanting to know how much Royal charged for a day trip excursion to Rome from Civitavecchia port? Just a tour that does the main highlights of Rome and Vatican City.

Wish you a wonderful couple of cruises!

Chilli,

we were not able to get the App for this cruise..something to do with the fact that they offered this cruise in Two parts.   We got on for 7 days from Rome and others got on previously in Barcelona.   They had problem with the App in Italy but the App  is available for our next cruise on Odyssey and that is also from Rome!!

Sorry BecAus.  Can’t answer your question as we just got a car to take us from Rome.

must tell you all we went to the Aqua show last night and have never seen anything like it…absolutely marvellous.   They have a pool and lots of swimmer doing enormous high dives but also they fly over the top of the audience.   This show is worth doing the cruise alone.   Everybody was in awe of it.

I do not know how they do it all, lights , sound and marvellous show.

eileen

also we got two bottles of champagne delivered to us.   Don’t know how we can drink it.  We get four drinks a day because we are diamond!    We will take them to our shared table to use them.   Having a lovely time.   Thanks for all your thoughts.

Best of wishes, try to get to Wonderland bar just for a picture at least.

I have some photos of Wonderland but tried to upload but was not successful.

I went to Wonderland but it was empty.  The cost of speciality restaurants can be $100US pp.   I think it is too expensive for most people.

How wonderful that the Aqua Show was worth going on the cruise for.  Because of all the different languages ,they seem to specialise on visual shows like this world class one you saw. Australia being so isolated we are just not used to shows of that first class standard.  Overseas they can make a living jumping from one ship to another.

Way to much, thats about $A150 and as said you have paid for your food already.

It is supposed to be a amazing restaurant though in the middle of the ship.

It used to be the diamond lounge on some of the older Oasis class.

I have done wonderland on the Ovation tears ago, an amazing experience  but then It only cost about $45 USD pp ( and our AUD was much stronger), we had purchased a dining package so tried all the restaurants. Some a few times.

That would be about my max price too.
