christyran1228 Posted November 6, 2022 #78 Share Posted November 6, 2022 Even though I live in San Antonio and can get them on every block, and I always say I'm going to order something different, I always end up with the huevos rancheros at seaday brunch. The breakfast burritos at Blue Iguana The mushroom soup & bitter & blanc in the MDR And count me in as another one to be hunting down this funfetti cheesecake in a few weeks. On a cruise on the Dream, several years ago, we were walking down to breakfast and I saw the Blue Iguana ( it was at the entrance to the Ledo deck) stopped and really checked out the foods listed for breakfast. I OVE a good egg burrito, but for some reason had never tried one there, so I thought, 'What the heck, I'll get one loaded to go with my breakfast instead of a omlette,' Ha ! Ha ! By the time I finished that monster burrito I was lucky to eat a couple bites of grits and was still full four hours later when everybody else was talking about Guy's for lunch. NEVER made that mistake again about underestimating BI's servings portion. What delicious burrito, took up half a plate. Mac ( BI surely could teach lot of fast food places around here how to make a good breakfast burrito.(IMHO)

I had never had bread pudding before, but I finally tried one earlier this year because so many people raved about it. It instantly became my favorite Carnival dessert. Now I'll have to finally try the funfetti cheesecake on my next cruise.

Did I get a bad batch of ingredients or something? Nothing tasted bad, per se (the eggs were kind of cold which wasn't great) but it just wasn't anything special. It’s weird because I usually love them, great fresh ingredients and everything is hot but I was on the Magic in April and something just didn’t taste the same. I have no idea what it was because I always order the same ingredients. I’m going to try them again this next week on the Mardi Gras and see, Edited November 6, 2022 by Enggrl
Tennessee Rose Posted November 9, 2022 #84 Share Posted November 9, 2022 Deli: Cubano, grilled hot ham & cheese Lido buffet: confetti cheesecake, the low sugar peach cake (was very surprised how good this was on my last cruise), love the fresh made marshmallows and jujubes, lemonade shake---I make these by mixing about 1/2 my drink cup with vanilla soft serve and top it off with lemonade---very refreshing in the hot climates! MDR: jerk pork roast/loin (probably my favorite MDR dish), blackened pork tarts!, spicy chicken tenders, pork chops, mac 'n cheese with bacon (Oh my!), beef short ribs Afternoon tea: macarons and the specialty cakes
SmoothFlying Posted November 9, 2022 #85 Share Posted November 9, 2022 Most ALL of the 3 and 4 layer cakes served in the Ledo lunch buffe, I LOVE the peanut butter layer cake w/chocolate frosting ( it's my fav) I WILL try the confetti cake (see the topic ' Hours of the Buffet cakes in the Ledo marketplace) and check out some great pics. We love EVERYTHING at Guy's. Mac
Bollycats Posted November 9, 2022 #86 Share Posted November 9, 2022 I just got on the Radiance on Monday and they did not have the funfetti cheesecake the first day in the buffet. I don't know why but the lady just said they didn't have it. Very disappointed!
jsglow Posted November 9, 2022 #87 Share Posted November 9, 2022 (edited) This was kinda fun reading as many of my favs were mentioned. It reminds me to jump on a cheapo Radiance 4 nighter sometime this year because of the excellent restaurant selection. Looking forward to my first Shaq attack! keels81 Posted November 10, 2022 #90 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Mine is more like a "hack", but on the ships that feature a Fresh Creations on Serenity ... I love to get a burger patty with cheese (and pickles) from Guy's Burger and then put it on top of a salad that I put together at Fresh Creations. Cheeseburger Salad is a nice switch-up from the deli-style proteins they offer on the salad bar. This also works well with tenders from Big Chicken.
Rare BoozinCroozin Posted November 10, 2022 #91 Share Posted November 10, 2022 For us, we ate at the MDR on the first elegant night. After that, we thought it was never worth going back for the time sink of it. Easier to get quick bite options. We are not foodies. The Steakhouse was extremely good, but not $50 good. Ours was comped by the casino. I would not pay $50 for it, but would use OBC for it. We love Guy's Burgers, Cucina, and Blue Iguana for lunch. Pig and Anchor for sea day lunch was ok. I hope it is better in the P&A restaurant. Other than that, Lido Marketplace sufficed for our needs.
Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted November 10, 2022 #92 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Two things come to mind, one of which is no longer offered (I think) and the other has changed, and not for the better... They used to have an entrée in the MDR on the first formal night that competed (for my attention) with Prime Rib. It was (along the lines of?) Supreme Long Island Roast Duckling, and it was delicious! The other was a MDR starter: Gravlax. Yes, they do still offer "Gravlax" during Seaday Brunch, but it's nowhere near the same! farjar Posted November 10, 2022 #95 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Gelato at lunch on the Panorama. They serve two different flavor each day with lots of toppings you add yourself. It is my understanding only a few other ships have it. Wish they all did. Yum!

Tom Oh, the duck! That was good! Was it called something like Hudson Valley Duck, maybe? I can't remember the exact menu name for it. At the age of 3, my DD fell in love with this dish on her first cruise. And on her second cruise, at age 7, not only looked forward to it and ordered it in the MDR for dinner, but later that night, when we were passing through the buffet and noticed it was available there, she devoured two more servings of it with glee. Because of this Carnival MDR dish, through much of her childhood, she would ask at every land-based restaurant that we went to, "Do they have duck?" Le sigh.😔
Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted November 10, 2022 #97 Share Posted November 10, 2022 In days gone by I'd take ziplocs of crushed oreo's and butterfinger's along with krackel/shell chocolate topping. Then I'd seek out the ice cream machine and have a decadent time! Tom
