With the news today about 800 passengers testing positive on arrival in Sydney can anyone help with information regarding what happens with testing at disembarkation . We have a flight home at 11am so we are time critical getting to the airport . Generally now we are not forced to isolate on land but not sure of RCCL's and the port authorities procedures now ? . Sad to be nervous now when we are just 6 days away from Quantum .

There is no testing at disembarkation.

When a ship hits tier 2, as with Majestic Princess yesterday, they require everyone to do a pre-arrival test, which applies to port visits and disembarkation ports. The tests that were done for Majestic Princess were done yesterday morning, so that port authorities could have a measured approach for when the ship docked this morning. Some testing negative from the same cabin as a positive passenger may be required to test before disembarking - not sure about that one.

I don't know what Royal have in place. In Princess' case today, even those testing negative will be delayed somewhat through disembarkation, but an 11am flight should still be able to be caught. Those testing positive are likely to be making other plans.

Thanks ARXCARDS , so we are tested the day before disembarking if we are at Tier 2 . Sounds likely now.

All cruise by cruise, ship by ship. Unlikely to be much of an announcement, but if all crew start wearing masks indoors, that would be the first sign of tier 2.

What happened to people who were positive and living in Brisbane?  How did they get home if they originally were planning to take a taxi or uber?  Would a taxi or uber driver knowingly accept a positive passenger?

Princess, and I presume others, continue to assist people to get home or isolation accommodation. Even though NSW no longer mandates isolation, I believe the cruise lines still have a requirement to assist their passengers until the 5 day isolation period has been completed.

- Anyone with their own private transport is able to drive home if they feel well enough to do so

- Princess provides private transport to anyone within (2hrs?) driving from the port.

- Princess provides hotel accommodation to anyone further than 2hrs drive from home/next destination for the remainder of their isolation period.

I don't know if they assist with flight or other transport changes, or if that falls in the lap of travel insurance.

On the Pacific Encounter last week, all the staff wore masks all the time from day 1. Passengers were asked to wear them in the theatre. I didn't see anyone except us wearing them!

The ship let 'em loose on the community.  As for positives using taxi/uber, some would not probably  disclose their condition to the driver.  Irriots.

Standby for incoming, lol.

That scenario can't happen in Brisbane.  The cruise terminal has no public transport and is out on its own.   If Princess holds back the positives until the negatives disembark, the taxis and ubers will know.  We are a 20 minute uber from Brisbane cruise terminal.  We are self-isolating pre-cruise to remain negative.  So I am looking at worst case scenario if we catch it on the ship.  11 day PNG cruise.

Even the scandalous channel 9 were saying that the ship was arranging private transport for infected passengers - must be true. 😉
