Question about pre-paid gratuities in Carnival

This is NOT a question on whether there should be gratuities or not..... it is a technical/regulation question. If I gratuities have been prepaid, and someone decides that they want to have them removed while on the boat, can it be done??

Perhaps, perhaps not.  The long line can be a combination of factors, like cruisers questioning a high bar or casino bill (can't remember ordering so many drinks or casino room charges), seeing extra or overcharges, yes, Carnival billing does make mistakes, some may even want to pay off their bill before leaving the ship, etc.

 

Unless one asks each person on line, there is no way of knowing why they are there.  You might overhear 1 or 2 guests at an adjacent agent explain their problem, but that doesn;t mean the entire line is there for the same reason.

Nah, Elaine is right, it's the cheapskate lineup, no one would wait until the last day to contest charges. What's the chances of any significant representation of that? It's all the people that smiled in staff faces and enjoyed their services  but are lining up to pick their pockets. They really need an algorithm to exclude these folks from the lowest promotional rates on future sailings.

This is spot on ..... They need to include the tips in the cruise fare to weed out the cheapskates. If it's being asked its going to be done.

Well, lots of folks don't look at the bill until the last day, so if there is a bogus charge, that's when they'll see it.  Then there's the mistakes that happen on the last day. 

 

Happened to us.  Luckily we had fttf that cruise so we didn't have to wait long.  Bar tender apparently charged us for the next groups drinks. 

 

Every one there I heard was complaining about a charge, didn't hear one mention of removing tips. Not saying it doesn't happen.

I am so tired of the ASSumers around here repeating this bull about everyone in the GS line on the last day.  Yes, I'm sure there are some (many?) who are there to remove their tips.  I, however, have stood in the GS line (much shorter VIP line, thankfully) on the last evening of most of my cruises and I have NEVER removed or reduced a tip.  I was there once when DH accidentally packed his S&S card in his checked luggage and it had already been collected from the hallway🤦‍♀️, so we needed a new card printed.  I have been there to get large bills broken for extra in-person cash tips when I didn't bring enough small bills.  And I have been there (ready for this?) to INCREASE my family's autograts on several cruises.  But apparently, some of you are walking by me at GS and you just know that I am there for quite the opposite.🙄  And you're actually judging me as a cheapskate and a 'pickpocket' based on your utterly false ASSumption.😡  Maybe I should get a T-Shirt made just for wearing to GS on the last day that says, across the front and the back in large letters:

 

I AM NOT REMOVING OR REDUCING MY GRATUITIES.

YES, you can always remove automatic gratuities - even if you've prepaid them. End of thread (but it won't be).
