Winemaker’s Dinner on the Royal Princess

One of our absolute BEST dining experiences was on board the Regal last November for a Transatlantic.  We and our traveling companions (4 in all) did the Winemaker's Dinner.  It was AWESOME!  We were absolutely stuffed when we left and the food was excellent!

oh yum yum!  We've never tried the Winemakers Dinner but have always wanted to and have seen it advertised in the patter.  We'll be on the Regal in January - do we just call the Dine Line when we board and ask to be put on a wait list, or do we wait until we see it advertised?

Don't wait to see it advertised. Call asap after boarding and ask to be put on the last.It is the best meal we have experienced on Princess!

I certainly agree that the WMD is a great value and enjoyable event.  My wife doesn't like to go anymore since she drinks very little wine.  Since we had a rare (for us) balcony on the Island earlier in November, I decided to go for the UBD (just $10 more pp) and it was excellent as well.  A nice treat even though we actually ate inside the door instead of outside due to the cool temperature and breeze.  (The WMD is only on the Royal and Sphere Class ships).

Call the dine line when you board. It is limited capacity.

I love the wine makers dinner even more than Chef's table because I can eat everything I am served. With the Chef's table, there is so much delicious food I just cannot eat the main entree.  Happy to pay for the Wine maker's dinner every time we can!!

we love the UBD too but have done it a few times and we like to do at least one new thing each time we sail.   Also I find I can no longer eat all the food in the UBD so it is now a bit of a waste (just from the food perspective) for me.

It's $60 on the Royal Princess, currently on a 15 day Hawaii

Wow, they just raised the price then?  Last month it was $40. Sabatini's had a Super Tuscan Wine dinner and that was $60. Maybe you are thinking of that one?

Yes that's the one, the super Tuscan is an insane dinner with truffles and premium wine..its worth 60$ you think?

I haven’t personally tried it, but another couple at the Winemaker’s Dinner also attended the Super Tuscan and they loved it.

Did the Royal Princess offer the super Tuscan dinner recently?  We're sailing on her in March - loved the Super Tuscan in  the past, but a lot of ships haven't offered it (due to lack of interest, they said).

Would be exciting!

Yes, it was offered on the Royal last month. We only had 1600 on our cruise, but there was enough interest to have the Super Tuscan.

Apologies for @partybarbie, but since the topic of the Super Tuscan Dinner has been broached, the is the menu we had on the Royal Princess in 2019

The wines were terrific.  Not all them were Super Tuscans.  As we entered the venue, we were handed a glass of Prosecco.  The La Cala which was served with the antipasto was a Sardinian Vermentino.  (Franco, the Headwaiter in Sabatini's for that cruise and who provided commentary on some of the wines for this event, is a proud Sardinian.)  My recollection is that they served Limoncello with the dessert.

I am a bit surprised at the suggestion that these events are not popular with Princess passengers.  Sabatini's closed for this event, and every seat in the room was occupied the evening we did it.
