Do I need to bring cash for casino

No cash needed; you just set up your casino acct at the slot machine and decide how much you’d like to transfer from your onboard acct. There’s no charge, and you can do it multiple times if you’re not sure how much you want to use. It just appears as a charge to your onboard acct.

The answer given by @cruisequeen4everis correct...assuming that your ship account is set up via credit card (it probably is.)  However...some people don't use credit cards...they post a fixed amount of cash into their account at the beginning of their cruise.  I personally don't know how that would work (we always just go the CC route) but if by chance you were doing cash then I imagine this would somehow impact what you do in the casino.

How would this work on table games? ex. roulette.

Place your medallion on the table and ask the dealer to purchase chips, example $200, and charge to your on board account. The pit boss will process the charge and the dealer will provide you with the chips. For roulette you will have to indicate the chip's value. For roulette when you cash in you hand over your color chips to the dealer for cash value chips, the white, red, green and black ones. You then can take the cash value chips to the cashier for cash. A $200 casino charge will show in your on board account. It is the same at other table games except unlike roulette you play with the cash value chips.

Someone may very well correct me if I am wrong...but since everything is tied to your shipboard account there really is no mechanism to accept cash.  After charging to your room account you can always go to the Purser's desk and give them cash to apply to your account.

While you can charge your onboard account, can you still use good old fashioned cash?

Yes you can. For table games just drop cash on the table and ask for chips. For slots use your medallion to set up a casino account and then follow the directions to insert cash. Payouts on slots are to your casino account. You then need to go to the cashier to obtain the actual cash payout.

Not correct. Cash can be used. Casino slot play is connected to a casino account. Casino table play is cash value chips that are traded in for cash at the cashier. The only connection to your on board account is when and if you charge play to that account.

It is usually published in the Platter that the on board limit from casino room charges is $3,000 per day with a $21,000 maximum per cruise.

Now this is from a 7 day cruise so the maximum my be different depending on length of cruise.

Thanks.  I don't remember seeing this in my past newsletters.  I'll have to review them to see if it shows up there - not that I doubt what you've said.
