Smoking weed

By the way, since we're talking weed, every dispensary I go to in Central Florida, the customers are not young people.

Nooo......it's all folks my age, what I assume is most of y'alls age. I always laugh and get a kick, see old dudes in there, little grandma's....it's wild

It's not hard to get a prescription, wildly easy.

DOWN THE MEMORY LANE

I smoke weed on cruises, but I do not advertise it.

Thus, I use vapes and  never leave anything lying around, that's asking for trouble because crew members will report you.

And in places like Bermuda, police dogs are sometimes brought in to sniff hallways. (Solution: Put your stuff in the safe and don't use flower).

Lots of years ago we were on a cruise to Jamaica. In Montego Bay, my wife wanted to get her hair braided. Meanwhile, I investigated a nearby bar. I was literally attacked by women of easy virtue who made propositions of all kinds of unnatural acts that made me  blush. One even followed me to the men's room.

Once the hussies--all high on something stronger than weed--were rebuffed, their boyfriends began showing their wares. The buds looked good and I bought some.

We then took a swim on a local beach. Once we got back to the port, we were greeted by two grinning policewomen who went through everything. And found nothing (because they failed to check our wet swimwear). They were most disappointed, almost distraught.

Which brings me to the point. If you doing stuff of questionable legality, think it through. (BTW, that Jamaican weed was terrible).

In my working life, I was a globetrotting traveler so I figured all this out. Hiding places, mostly for undeclared cash, possible excuses. But in neither of my two main assignments--apartheid South Africa and the Soviet Union--did I ever even consider consuming weed. Too dangerous, as the recklesness of Brittney Griner shows.

Once we were in Sri Lanka, where airport signs declared that consuming/trafficking was punishable by death. A similar sign at the hotel check-in. Within 15 minutes I scored.

When I presented my goodies, my wife, an erstwhile head, refused. And I put my life on life for her!

     Such is life.

I can't believe all this "if I smell smoke I'm telling" stuff. Give me a break... If someone pays a premium for a balcony and discreetly takes a few puffs how are any of you gonna know who to tell on. Most people aren't gonna stand against the rail and expose themselves and as long as nobody is on the balcony to the left or right you can't pinpoint the source. How about everyone mind their own business and enjoy being on vacation.

We are currently on board the Celebrity Solstice. I hardly see any smokers, let alone potheads. Even the drinkers are sedate. My husband said it felt like we were cruising with “adults.” Perhaps on other lines, such as Celebrity or HAL, the passengers have more respect for others’ comfort. I have no idea.

No cannabis for me this week. I’m taking a tolerance break.

On the Reflection a couple of weeks (just off Sunday) and there were very few smokers - I don't think I ever saw more than a dozen or so at the Sunset Bar (port=smoking side), and a few around the Mast Bar. I love the Solstice class ships, and the smoke free casinos on Celebrity.

Most smokers I know have switched to vaping, and not the cloud chucking types, the smaller low output types (think Juul) that use nicotine salts. They can be easily used almost anywhere and aren't bothersome to folks around them. Unfortunately, sometimes they are forced in with the analog cigarette smokers and it can be rough to be around once you've given up the ciggs; the stench can be overwhelming. I was hanging out on the smoking deck on Panorama last time I was on and had to get up and leave one time because it was unbearable. This from someone who enjoys cigars also. 😁

People can't enjoy being on vacation if they're getting sick from breathing in secondhand smoke.

IMO, I think many overreact, like my wife does if she gets the slightest whiff of weed anywhere.

We've done 5, 7, and 8 day cruises. On every 5 day we could frequently smell people smoking marijuana throughout the ship.  On our 5 day in June there were several balconies around us who did it and we would smell it anytime we were on our balcony. It is definitely a different clientele  on the 5 day cruises.

Those are the rookie cruisers. We were all there once, thinking little hops to the Bahamas was so exotic....LOL

I don't agree that it is an overreaction - the OP states the balcony was unusable.

I think Carnival has just given up on enforcement.  They would have to kick off/ban too many people.  Every interaction (security) would be videotaped, posted on social media, and end up being bad press for the company.

Your best option is to find a different cruise line, frankly.

Setting an example of a small amount of people by leaving them at the next port may make the masses rethink their propensity for disobeying the rules.

We will be on the Reflection next month, our first on Celebrity. I've seen so many good reviews about this class - can't wait to try it!

OK ... then get ready...  😁

The Signature Burger is probably the best burger I've ever had - I tried it once in February, and twice this last trip. Hope you're OK looking at a RARE burger !! I've never been a fan of bacon on a burger, but this moist/fatty pork belly ain't no bacon !!!

What gags me more than the smoking, it the smell of the ashtrays. The ashtray smell is the worst

Bong water definitely. Still remember that pungent smell from my college days.

I did two cruises this year, (one balcony) although I do not know what weeds smells like, I did not notice any usual smells.

Well, it doesn't smell like a cigarette

I guess it kind of smells like bunch of oregano and your lawn on fire at once
