Arrival time vs assigned boarding time

We will fly to Orlando as use RCL’s transfer to Pt Canaveral. By the time we claim our luggage and take the transfer, I think we will arrive 2-3 hours before our assigned boarding time.  Will we be allowed to check our luggage and board the ship before our boarding time?  I understand that our room may not be ready. We are staying in a Royal Suite.

You do not have a boarding time. Nobody knows when boarding will actually begin. You have an arrival time, when you can check in. Whether you will be allowed to check in early, depends on the port. I believe suites can check in an hour earlier than assigned. But they may not even check your arrival time. Most ports don’t look.

We were on 2 RCI cruises this year...one we arrived early and went straight on, the other we only arrived a few minutes early...no one checked our arrival time at either...they announce at 1pm that the cabins are ready and you can go to your cabin and collect your room key.

You can also keep checking the app for an earlier arrival time.  They do sometimes open up.

If you're in the Royal Suite you'll coordinate with the concierge what time you will arrive.

Excellent!  Will the concierge also hep us with reservations for shows?

This will be our first time in a Royal Suite, so need to learn the ropes.

What ship are you sailing on

im going to go out on a limb and say non Oasis or Quantum class as they don’t have Royal Suites per say

We have done quite a few RS so dependent on ship can offer some info.

RLS IS oasis class

Concierge will meet you in the terminal and escort you onto ship and take you straight to your room, regardless of time (Once ship is cleared for boarding)

When you arrive at terminal let the staff know you are in the Royal suite

Also 6-7 days before you board , coordinate with concierge what time you will be arriving at terminal

They will take care of any reservations you need, so no worries and relax they will look after you.

enjoy the RS

Happy Days!

Thank you!  I love cruising, but we are skittish travelers. This is very comforting. We will be on. Wonder of the Seas. This will check off a bucket list item for me:  cruising on a huge ship and stay in a suite. I think it will spoil us.

Show up whenever you want. Despite what others may say, there are no arrival/boarding times and you will receive the Royal treatment when you arrive.

Why tell someone new to the Suite life on Royal to “Just turn up”

that’s not really useful one bit to the OP

Typically at PCO they don’t let anyone through the doors until 10am and for the most part don’t start boarding until just after 11

being as OP is in a Royal Suite, they may be with a Genie (Wonder) and experiencing the Royal Suite Life (Star Class)

OP

Confirm your exact suite style and we can best advise you on the procedures

Happy Days!

I need to get my terminology right.  We will be in a Grand Suite - Sky Class.

You will have access to Suite lounge and all Sky Class benefits

enjoy your Grand Suite (GS)

Then you can arrive up to an hour prior to your selected arrival time.  You will not be escorted on as that is reserved for Star Class suites.  But there will be a dedicated Suites line for check in and a separate lounge area in the terminal.

If you are cruising in Star Class, your arrival time is between you and your Genie.  Doesn't matter what time you select during the filling out the document stage(s).

If the actual boarding of a cruise is delayed for what ever reason, when the start to board, they'll start off with the first arrival time, regardless of what time it actually is, and work from there.  That's my experience at Canaveral.

Post COVID, I don't think I've seen or heard RCCL use "Boarding Time".  Just "Arrival Time".  Again, that's my experience.

Four cruises 2022. LA, Seattle, Vancouver. No one every checked arrival time.  Good old days are slowly coming back.

Though not the norm I did Miami and Tampa in 2022 with them actually checking those weeks breaking us into Groups. Tampa they even kept people outside fence a few times inc when Ship came in late. Now LA, my assigned time was 11, earliest for some was 10:30. My UBER came way to early, got to Port and Check in at 10:20, was on Ship at 10:37
