audcc77 Posted January 16, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2023 I’m going solo on a last minute cruise. My only dining choices were My Time or Late. I chose My Time. I’m wondering if it would be possible when I board to ask the dining room if I can switch to Early dining at a solo traveler table. Is that a thing? A table of solo travelers? Rare maxandmolly Posted January 16, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2023 When I sailed solo I was out at tables with other couples, not solos.

Schoifmom Posted January 16, 2023 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2023 When you check in for YTD on the app, you can select to be seated at a shared table.

When you check in for dinner on the hub, select the choice that will seat you with others. You can also request the same wait staff by telling the hostess at the reception desk. On embarkation day go to the MDR around 12:30 to 1:00 and you can request a change of dining to early.I have never heard of a solo table at any dining time.

Anyislandwilldo Posted January 16, 2023 #7 Share Posted January 16, 2023 We were never allowed to switch during the cruise. The hub app will ask if you wanted to be seated with other people at YTD. You might end up sitting with another person or a table of people. And you may end up finding a new friend on your cruise.
evandbob Posted January 16, 2023 #8 Share Posted January 16, 2023 I've been the only solo male at a table of 8 solos. Checking with the Matre'D may work, but more likely to get seated for late dining.
Elaine5715 Posted January 16, 2023 #9 Share Posted January 16, 2023 Each Maitre has their own system for assigning solos for assigned times. For early assigned dinner, I have mostly been seating with only other solos. Occasionally, us solos were seated with couples and only once I was seated with one other solo and a family. Once all women solos were seated together and next to us was the solo guys with window tables. With YTD, even if I say I would like to seat with others, I get a solo table.
Daddyfto Posted January 16, 2023 #10 Share Posted January 16, 2023 They will put you at a table for two ...that's the good news ...the next table for two will be inches away so you just have to roll with it ...I met some really nice folks at the next table and a couple who were not into chatting which was fine by me...and it will likely be staggered so you might be having your main course when they sit down to order and you usually get the same table if you come around the same time each night
audcc77 Posted January 16, 2023 Author #11 Share Posted January 16, 2023 Well, I guess I should just stay with My Time. Or the buffet. Eating late is not for me. They’ve stuck me a few times in the main thoroughfare at a 2-top and I didn’t like it. It’s like I-95 with a parade of people constantly walking by on both sides of my dinner plate. I will see if I can get a table in the corner or something. Thanks all.
