Drink Prices???

Recommended Posts

We have not cruised RCCL since pre-Covid, but we did cruise Celebrity in December.  We had drinks included package, but it seems too me that the price list on the tables and bars were approximately $9 for a gin and tonic or Manhattan.    What are current prices for simple drinks like these on RCCL.  We cruise on Anthem, March 26.   Thank you.

A simple house vodka and tonic are only $10.  Titos vodka and tonic is $10.99 then they add 18%.  Most simple drinks are only  $10.99.  When you order drinks with multiple spirits and mixers, that's when you get to $14.

You can also look at current sailing or next one on the app, and bring up dining and then bars. Prices should be listed for drinks

All bartenders have to use jiggers for the pour.  Some will fill and add a dash.  Others don't even fill them.

Or some will make it a double on request.  Every rum old fashioned I had was made with two jiggers, large end.

Probably because Rum Old Fashioned is a specific ($14) drink on the menu with a standard recipe (presumably 2 shots of rum).  Otherwise if you ask for a double, let's say rum and Coke, you'll be charged for 2 shots of rum.

I'm normally glass half full sort of person, but the drinks onboard RCI are dreadful. Luckily I am Diamond and Prime in the Casino so I don't pay for them.

And just to back up my opinion, I had the drink package Sept 2'2 on Liberty, was Prime on Allure Oct '22, Prime on Freedom Oct '22, Diamond and Prime on Symphony Feb '23. Each time, I figured "maybe it's the ship, maybe it is the bartender" and yes, certain bars/bartenders are better than others but as a whole, very disappointed.

At home, I use a jigger to make my vodka sodas and other concoctions...two drinks makes me feel really good. On the ship, I could have 3 vodka sodas, 3 strawberry blondes, 2 long island iced teas and I feel NOTHING. And I only drink on the weekends at home, so these drinks SHOULD be making me feel a little tipsy! I do see the bartenders make the drinks using a jigger, but I only know what my body tells me, which is that these drinks are too weak. I understand maybe this is the RCI standard, but I just think something is very wrong if I don't feel any sort of buzz after so many drinks...maybe it's me, idk, but my husband experienced the same thing on our cruises and so did my best friend. People on our roll call were talking about it too.

On top of being weak pours, the actual drink-making standard is very low. Every time I would order a strawberry blonde, it would taste wildly different depending on who made it, what bar I was at, etc. Same thing for the Mint Berry Delight, mojitos, etc. I am not talking about a slight difference, sometimes I thought maybe I ordered the wrong thing.

I mean, it is just drinks and obviously, I  do continue to sail RCI, but if I didn't have my free drinks, I wouldn't be buying mixed drinks onboard, just the beers, Trulys, ciders, wine.

Depends on the tip.

I don't think that always matters. I was tipping 2-5.00 per drink on Symphony (For my Diamond and Prime drinks) and I didn't notice an improvement in service or drink

Wrong bartender. You have to watch. It's sort of a science finding a "favorable" one.

Not a guaranteed thing ... but I look for the bartender who appears to be the senior staff-member at the bar.  He/she tends to be more generous with the pour - and can (usually) get away with it.

100%. Few weeks ago, one bartender wouldn't make doubles and would only stick to the "rules". Another would make my gin and tonics about 90% gin.. Tried to order from him as much as possible!
