What ships would you say have the best pools? Any indoor?

I’ve found the pools on NCL to be very small and crowded, if you want a nice indoor relaxing pool book a spa pass.

Thank you. Are all the pools in the spa usually similar size, or does it depend on the ship?

I think the newer ships have larger ones, I don’t think the Joy has a spa, but you can google to see images.

Spas DEPEND ON SHIP.. Big differences in sizes- not really a swimming pool; it is a therapy pool.  Epic Spa Thermal Suite; very nice -  plus has relaxation room and outdoor sitting area; NO salt room but some treatment rooms look to the outside.  Plus there is a private steam or sauna in the women's bath area, if I remember correctly.

Did not know that about JOY, NO THERMAL SUITE; won't be booking that ship! That is surprising and disappointing.

Thanks for the heads up.

We are two adults travelling and pool not beach people. What ships have the best pool areas/options?

Any ships have indoor pool areas for is the weather is not great?

RCL has Solariums that are ADULT ONLY with Dip pools, and Brilliance of the Sea has a beautiful (well 6-7 years ago) indoor pool area, Anthem solarium is very modern and nice; quite and relaxing.

I wish they sent more/nicer ships to Europe with 10-14 day itineraries.

That's what we call RCL - RELAXATION CRUISE LINE; not dull, it is lovely. NCL is more lively, less children.

NCL Ships do not have indoor pool areas (like the solarium on Royal ships).

Bigger ships have two salt water pools (one "adults" one "family").

Bigger ships have a tiny fresh water pool in the Haven (suites) area which are sometimes enclosed. But you have to be willing to pay for a suite.

Various ships have hydrotherapy pools in their Thermal Suites (spa). These are warm fresh water pools, often with jets and bubbles (pool size jacuzzi). The Thermal Suites also come with large relaxation areas, steam rooms, saunas, salt baths (some ships), ice rooms (some ships),

Check out the Epic…they had two family pools and an adult pool in Spice H20 (deck 15).  We actually preferred the family pools as kids take up much less space than adults…lol.  There is also a kids park for younger kids.  They have 4-5 hot tubs in family area and I believe one in Spice H20.  However, the most fun on the Epic is the water slides.  We’re old folks/young hearts…and enjoyed the slides…especially the Epic plunge swirly slide.  Also…LOTS of lounge chairs…even on a full occupancy sailing.

interestingly, when we sailed the Bliss in May to Alaska, there were people in the pool…as they were heated.

All Breakaway and Breakaway+ class ships except for Gateway have a Haven pool with retractable roof for inclement weather or while sailing. Breakaway+ Haven sundeck (age 16+) also has 2 large hot tubs, although not covered.

3 of the 4 Breakaway Plus ships have 2 hot tubs on the Haven sundeck. Escape only has 1 on the Haven sundeck and 2 in the courtyard.

Good call, forgot about Escape's idiosyncrasies. So 2 of Escape's Haven hot tubs are covered.
