or they can check you in at the MDR. Paper menus are also available by request.

thanks.  Checking in for dinner is not something i want to be concerned about. Paper menus are way preferable to me.

You're welcome. Checking yourself in does allow you to see the estimated wait time and be notified when your table is ready vs waiting near the MDR.

Other cruise lines might just hand you a "pager" that accomplishes the same thing, but you still have to carry around.

it's not a big deal, I just figured that after not cruising since pre Covid, I would have got the same treatment I was used to as a Platinum cruiser. Showed up at dinner and had to be told, we needed to check in via the AAP

That is for everybody

I completely understand where you are coming from. Our first cruise post-covid we were in the same boat but Diamond. No notification from Carnival that anything had changed with regard to the items in the room. Like you it wasn't a big enough deal to go stand in that long customer service line.

Then I came across CC and when I mentioned it I got the same response you are getting. I apparently didn't get the memo that the only place to get information on a Carnival cruise was CC and I was an idiot for not knowing that and spending hours on CC to find out what Carnival had changed.

In my opinion one of Carnival's main customer strategies is a form of gaslighting. They change things, don't mention it, then try to make you think it has always been that way. If they know that won't work then they say it is temporary, like bacon only every other day, due to covid shortages and supply chain issues. If you were to pin them down now they would probably just say it has been that way for years.

Grab waters from the bar

Pin and gift from Pixels

Call room service for strawberries

Makes sense to me as I am sure like us many didn't eat the strawberries

  • 2 weeks later...

We are currently in three rooms on Miracle.   We were all together on the Lido deck decided to get our 'Chocolate Delights' delivered one tonight and one tomorrow.   I went to the nearest house phone and called room service.  I gave them the three room numbers and gave them the order for the six Chocolate Delights (one to each room tonight, and one to each room tomorrow).  She came back on the phone and told me that she couldn't take the order from a house phone, I would have to order them from the phone in my stateroom🤨.  I went down to my stateroom and called, when room service finally answered the phone, I started to put my order in.   She told me that they didn't have any strawberries tonight, so I would have a choice of cookies or petit fours.  I could have just gone back to the Lido deck for cookies if I  wanted them, and I'm really not a big fan of little pieces of stale cake, but settled for the petit fours for tonight, and then I'll have my Chocolate Delights tomorrow.   She said that they won't be available for the rest of the cruise☹ 😠 😠 😠 ☹ ☹ ☹

So, I’ll be ordering my strawberries at the beginning of my cruise! It’s my first platinum and I’m getting all my bennies. I still don’t get the big deal about stopping by pixels and getting your pin or gift. We walk by it many times during week. One particular rude guy was picking up his can koozie giving the worker a horrible time, asking what he was supposed to do with it. Worker said it’s a koozie. The cruiser asked what he was supposed to do with it. The worker said it goes on a can. The guy was unbelievably rude. Why even pick it up? I admit, I loved just after covid, went on a couple cruises and the ships were so empty. Food went down hill, but it was a nice quiet vacation. I didn’t have to cook. Even when I got covid after a few days being home, I was still ok. 🤣 since then it’s back to “normal” but that’s ok too.

Update on the Chocolate Delights that I couldn't get yesterday so I settled on the petit fours.  They never got delivered!

That sucks.  I would talk to Guest Services at this point.

I think it's because some people simply forget. I almost did on my last cruise. Was walking past Pixels and heard someone else mention pins so I stopped and got mine. If I forget a pin it's not a deal breaker and I won't be getting on here complaining, but it would be nice to have them waiting in the room like days of olde.
