You have never seen Carnival enforce any rules.  I find this hard to believe.  I have seen Carnival Security remove people from the casino and I have also walked by rooms where a security officer is sitting outside a cabin because a person is on house arrest.

Need to read better.

I did not say carnival "never" enforces the rules.  I said they are never going to enforce a rule against swearing.  Then I said Carnival doesn't enforce the rules they have already.  Which is a fact.

I have seen security step in a couple times.  But, I have seen bad behavior that should have been stopped not stopped way more.

I agree.  Carnival is very strict in enforcing their rules.  I to have seen guests removed from and banned from the casino. I have also seen guests escorted off the ships at ports.

I have personally never seen or heard of Carnival proactively defusing a situation, as would help in cases like OP pointed out here. They always seem to wait until the issue is FUBAR, like the fights we've all seen on YouTube, to intervene.

Was always taught that foul language are for weak minded people since they don't have the capacity to express themselves properly.

I usually smile when I hear someone curse since I figure that person is too stupid and need to resort to foul language...

Absolutely!. I'm no prude and have been know to drop an F bomb here and there. But you have to know your audience.  It's never out of style to be respectful of your surroundings and people.

I have never personally seen a fight on 18 cruises.  I have seen Carnival intervene before a fight broke out.  Doesn't mean we are both wrong, but to paint a broad brush that Carnival security doesn't enforce rules is unfair.

So, I have to wonder.  Received my pre-boarding letter from Carnival and in it this section:

"We want you to have a memorable vacation but please remember a cruise ship is a shared space. Our Carnival Values underscore that everyone should feel welcome and included, and that everyone on board demonstrate care and respect towards others. Our experience has taught us that everyone has a better time when children are supervised, noise in the hallways is kept to a minimum, guests follow queues, and that a spirit of community and neighborliness is shown by all. Consistent with our commitment to safety, disruptive behavior is not tolerated and any guest whose conduct affects the comfort, enjoyment, safety or well-being of other guests or crew will be disembarked at their own expense and banned from sailing on Carnival in the future. All guests must acknowledge and commit to our code of conduct during the check-in process, and any violation may result in a fine of $500, possible stateroom confinement and removal from the ship. Guest may also be liable for reimbursement of expenses incurred by Carnival as a result of the detainment or disembarkation."

Wouldn't the type of behavior the OP mentioned really be covered by this?  I would think it is "disruptive behavior"  which "is not tolerated" that "affects the comfort, enjoyment, safety or well-being of other guests"

So there you go, they really already have a policy 😁

Should using four-letter words at a normal volume be considered "disruptive behavior", just because someone not involved in the conversation doesn't like it?

Of all the things Carnival security should stay on top of, naughty words should be waaaaay down the list.

**** that *****

🤣 I curse like a sailor but, like most people raised right, try to hold it down around unknown company and children especially.

The Celebration video shows a lot of things that are no longer a thing. Midnight buffet, quarters in the machines, tablecloths, and English speaking crew!

Um, OP specifically used the terms Loud, Obnoxious, Rude.

Doesn't sound like someone just uttered a 4 letter word to me.  I get the impression it was probably way more then that.

Probably comparable to my Alchemy she-devil. She was loud.

The OP titled this thread "Security needs to monitor the foul language".  That is what I was responding to.  You can' be loud and obnoxious without using any foul language, and that alone is disruptive behavior.

Yes, but the whole point of the OP's post was it was ALL of the above, Foul language that was Loud, Obnoxious and Rude.

Taking a single heading line is not the full context of what they were saying needs to be dealt with.

I hope the OP returns to clarify. What I took from it was adults in Serenity acting like youths.

I reread and see what you mean. Likely was about adult idiots. My bad.  Walked by a large group of them on my Celeration TA in the Serenity area.  Very Loud talking due to the music they had to be heard above.

Security is not going to monitor foul language nor should they.  The job they are performing is keeping people physically safe.  Policing abstract things like foul language isn’t appropriate, especially since there is not written policy outlining what word aren’t allowed to be said and if they did have such a policy, their comedians would need to vastly alter their sets.

The only requirement for the serenity area is that people be adults.  Nothing about restricting language, monitoring volume, or limiting behavior.

It's not about the words, it's about the behavior.  If they are being loud, obnoxious, rude... then they should be talked to.  They are disrupting the enjoyment of ALL guests.

Will Carnival do it, NO - should they, I totally think so.

Again another persons enjoyment is fine, but not at the expense of mine.

Problem comes in the measure.

What kind of behavior? What about just loud in general? Yelling voice people are totally annoying.

So how much is too much? Who decides? How is it decided?

I don't know about you but when I hear the word "serenity" the first thing that comes to my mind is loud cursing.

What if they're just loud in general? We've all seen those folks, the ones who start talking or laughing so loud, it's practically screaming.

How about them? That's annoying?

This is all a slippery slope. Just leave people be. Move if you can't deal with it. Bring it to attention of security if you want, but don't get mad when they don't do much more than "keep an extra eye on them."

There's no way to measure and what's too much for you might not bother me at all.

Believe it or not, I have read studies that say that people who curse actually may have a higher vocabulary which is a sign of intelligence.  LOL

People who curse are actually more honest, too.  Because they have lower self-monitoring.

Further evidence that nobody knows how to act in public anymore. The lockdown was the worst possible thing that could have happened to our society.

Either people actually think loud cursing is okay on the serenity deck, or they're so blinded by allegiance to Carnival they have to act like they do. Either way it is shocking how little they expect out of their Carnival cruise.
