Quick question. How was the dress code enforced on non gala nights? Were they strict about wearing long pants every night?

TIA

Only dress code is no shorts etc. It even said in the planner that jeans and a nice shirt was good for gala night. Very different from when I started cruising.

Thank you for taking the time to answer all of our questions.  How was the embarkation in Brooklyn?  I have read that the disembarkation in Brooklyn can be chaotic if you are looking for private taxis or Uber.

Disembarkation was definitely chaotic. They ran more than an hour late just calling numbers to disembark. Went to our meeting place in the Carousel Lounge. Had to snake thru what seemed like the entire ship and down 2 flights of stairs. Once outside, getting an uber/lyft was crazy (lyft was cheaper). The line of cars to get to the pick up area was horribly backed up. Took a good half hour for our car to come. 2 cars cancelled before someone came.  We got to Penn Station just before 1p. I hope nobody had early flights.

Is there extra charge for any entertainment?

Thanks

They have 2 shows in the Carousel Lounge. We didn't go see them, but i heard they were good. They are $12 in advance, $18 on ship. You get a free drink with that.  There is a nightly theater show, so we felt we didn't need to see more.

Thanks for posting the Dailies. We are packed and ready to sail tomorrow ! Doubt I'll get much sleep tonight...way too excited.

How was your embarkation today?  Our disembarkation ran late and I'm wondering how it affected the next cruise.

so much this. they rope off areas you have to get to. They roped off the medical bay during open hours because it was a port day and thought it was better passengers who are getting off for the day don't walk the one flight of stairs by mistake instead of me who is having my first asthma attack in almost 50 years find the medical bay. I was on a b2b and had to fight my way to the restaurant that was my holding area. Everyone including crew were yelling at me for cutting in line and going through barriers but i had to do it to get where i was told to sit and wait. Passengers staying on the ship shouldn't wait in the same areas used by the passengers leaving the ship.

Sounds like a mess. Did you get to medical? They are open so few hours. Heaven forbid you need them at any other time.  I hope you are feeling better.

What time did you actually sail?  We are sailing in September, and our itinerary shows 19:00 or a 7:00 pm departure.  We are not arriving until the morning of.  I know, risky, but we are on a VERY early non-stop flight from Tampa to LGA.  Hoping they adhere to that 7 p.m. departure.  If so, we should be fine.  We plan to take a taxi to the Brooklyn Cruise Port, and it's a Sunday, so traffic should be minimal.  Thanks for any info.

Maybe it is different for the Canada/New England cruises, which ours is, also a 10 day cruise.  Thanks for your answer.  Our itinerary definitely shows a 7 pm departure.  I guess I need to wait until the longer cruises start up.

Embarkation was horrible. We arrived at 10:30. Were on line outside the terminal until 1:30. We finally boarded at 2:15. I heard there was a system failure that caused your delay. Had a nice evening. Heading out to breakfast now

Ouch, that sounds horrible. What was your scheduled embarkation time? Were they strict/checking?

Glad you're on board and enjoying yourself now!

I wasn't on this sailing, but I was on the Meraviglia for two cruises in April and shorts were fine in the MDR for non-Gala nights. The only things I saw men turned away for were tank tops and sandals/flip flops.

I have been following other boards, and many complain about Brooklyn disembarkation.  I wonder what MSC does with YC guests when embarkation is delayed.

They have a separate seating/waiting area for YC guests in the terminal. My brother was on the Meraviglia out of Brooklyn a couple of weeks ago in the YC and they had a seating area with snacks and beverages, including bottled water, sparkling water, juices, and prosecco.

We were on the 4/29 sailing....rain and wind like a hurricane.  The main embarkation was total chaos.  We went to the YC entrance....and were taken care of immediately.  While we waited for the escort on to the ship, we sat in the lounge and were served drinks and snacks.

I would assume that if there is a delay in disembarkation you can sit in the TSL on the ship and have drinks and snacks until you're escorted off the ship.

Question about the wifi.... Where does your wifi say you are located? I did a New York to Canada sailing on the Meraviglia a few years ago and the wifi put us in Germany. I asked the Wifi folks on the ship and they said that everyone was in Germany because that was where the company's satellite was "located".

thank God.  Taking my daughter for her college graduation present in YC and she hates lines.  21 yrs old but still acts like a 4 yr old at times!  😁

Hopefully, they allow a VPN so you can change the country. If their provider is in Germany where they tie the satellite feed into the web then that's the location you will get.
