Today I decided I would purchase the HIA package but when I went to purchase it, I wasn't able to. I spoke with customer service who told me I wasn't eligible because I purchased a standard fare. I explained that this information wasn't mentioned on their website but they insisted it was. So apparently not everyone's eligible. He said I am "eligible." I just have to top up my fare and then purchase it which I won't be doing. I wonder if we need to sit at the back of the dining room because of our "standard fare. "  Didn't feel good but on the other hand, I dont really need the package.

Sometimes using a different web browser or a different device will let you purchase HIA.  I couldn't purchase it using the Safari web browser, kept getting a message my fare didn't qualify.  I tried using Firefox web browser and I was able to purchase it without any problems.

That is weird - as the "standard" fare should be standard!! AFAIK, you can purchase the HIA with almost all fares, including Casino and guarantee rates. Did you purcahse directly through HAL or a TA?

That is atrocious customer service from HAL. I'd be livid. Perhaps call again and see if you get a different answer from  different rep.

Thanks for your help so far...I see that wifi is $15 a day but still not sure what a soda,,bottled water  a beer or glass of wine would would cost per day. My daughter wants the wifi so maybe we get one package for her and I get the drinks with it ? I would like to know how much a cocktail costs,  being that the package has. a cap at $11 per drink. Seems odd to offer a package and not include cocktails that cost more than what you want to provide.

Please reread the link I posted for you in post #12 regarding the drink prices. Some of the prices are listed there.  Also please reread the other link to @Crew News other bar menus and his post #15 about the other non-listed drink prices.

Without the HIA package, the cost per day would depend on how many drinks you buy per day.  Is that what you are asking?  5 Bud Lights per day @ $7.75 + 18% grats = $9.14 X 5 = $45.72 per day

Also, as mentioned above, many others have purchased the HIA separately after booking.  Please call again and ask someone else if trying it online on a different browser doesn't work.  Here's where a good Travel Agent is very worth having!!!  (And no, it really shouldn't be this difficult!  HAL needs to train their staff much better!)

Good luck,

Hi, I had the same problem Friday. Every time I tried it said not eligible. I thought it was because I had a free casino room. I saw this subject on Another thread, some one there told me to call HAL. I did on Monday and was able to purchase the HIA package no problem. I asked the rep if it was because of my rate, she said no, everyone is eligible for the HIA

call in the AM. Good luck.

There have been many posts about travel agents struggling with this.  It’s about the persons ability not about the position they hold or where they sit.

Call again. The phone system is a bit confusing, if the agent says no hang up and call again but select a different department. I remember there were two departments that might work on the phone menu when I helped a fam member. First said not eligible. Called again to the other department, we said nothing about the previous call, they got it booked fine. Online it always said not eligible. It’s just their horrendous IT.

What other department did you try Antkipper I had already spoken to a supervisor who said I needed to upgrade to receive the package and I noticed  on their website it’s changed to mention the upgrade needed.  Anyway, I already purchased an excursion so I doubt they’d give me a $100 credit back after booking the HIA but I’ll try!!

I called a different number as suggested and was able to purchase the HIA  package. She cancelled an excursion and rebooked it with the $100 credit. Thanks for helping with this!

Hallelujah @tobymurph!!  Thanks for letting us know that your persistence paid off.  Have a great cruise!

I booked a cruise under the "Early Booking, Have it All"  Where would I see this on my booking.  I see the dining credits, and the gratuities are paid, but where would I find confirmation of my drink package and internet package and on board credit available.    I received an email with my booking number, but it doesn't give any breakdown.  It has been several years since we cruised on HAL and all of these things are new.

Thanks!!

How did you book this cruise? Usually the items you mention show up on your invoice, but not on the website. Your shore excursion credits show appear on the website.

Ahh I did not get an invoice, I’ll use the chat to request one.  Thanks for your quick response.

Value or lack of value for Have it All (HIA) depends on a few things.  First of all understand that Have it All Plus is a much better deal than Have it All (no plus), as it includes a better Wifi Package, a high tier drinks package, and gratuities.  That said, the value curve has a few "knees" in the curve.  Since they calculate HIA cost based on number of days in the cruise, I find the 10 and 11 day cruises a value as you get the $200 shores credit and two dinners.  A 9 day, gets you much less perks for a few dollars less.

Let's assume two persons in cabin, $50 a day for HIA.  A 9 day cruise is $900 a cabin, while a 10 day cruise is only $1000 a cabin.  The shore alone is 100 a person ($200 a cabin) more, so the math makes more sense.

There is another sweet spot at the 21 day mark, because three dinners and a $300 Shorex credit kicks in there.

On a recent Japan booking (albeit for 2025) a 14 day trip, with HIA Plus, I calculated (even with 4 star mariner dining discount) that I was getting the Elite Beverage Package for about $20 a day.  A beer, one specialty coffee, a soda and a water costs more than that.  I can order what I like, when I want, no surprises.

Again, do the math, sometimes it makes sense.  As others have posted, transoceanic voyages are good as you can enjoy a few drinks on deck. Also, you are locking in these prices up to two years in advance including gratuities for HIA Plus, which are bound to go up.

Good to have these discussions!

Note:  Never felt the need to "drink to make it worth my money"  - but speciality dinning - I will eat to get my money's worth!
